I grew up here in Central Florida. After high school I went to University of Florida, then decided to brave the cold weather in Milwaukee for medical school. I joined the U.S. Navy and did my pediatric internship at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.I loved pediatrics and caring for children. After my internship, my country needed me to serve the troops as a Naval flight surgeon. While it took me away from my first love of pediatrics, it offered me so many unique experiences flying in airplanes and helicopters and caring for our Marine and Naval air crew. I got to travel the world from Japan to Korea and even to Iraq. After exiting the Navy, I completed my residency at Duke University in pediatrics. As a U.S. Marine Corps spouse, I practiced in multiple U.S. cities as well as Japan (again). I love that I am back into pediatrics and Central Florida doing my life calling. I love general pediatrics because there is such a variety of visits from treating sick children to helping kids meet their milestones to just watching kids grow into healthy, well-adjusted adults. Pediatrics allows us to really make a difference through prevention and guidance. Overall, I am passionate about giving your child the brightest future while keeping them feeling healthy and well. I am very experienced in mental health and manage a lot of ADHD, anxiety, and depression. Seeing the progression of development in a young baby to a toddler and teen is heartwarming for me. Outside of work I enjoy traveling, reading, doing puzzles, and Peloton. I have even visited the Peloton studio. I love vacationing and hanging out with my two children who are entering the teen years (scary but rewarding). I try to give parents tools and education to make their children as healthy and happy as possible. As a mom of two, I relate to the trials and tribulations of parenting. I was the youngest in a family of five and the only girl. Growing up in Jamaica, I was into sports, climbing trees and practicing to be a doctor. I used to compound flowers and herbals to make “medicine.” I’d keep it into a little bottle and administer it with a spoon to treat my dogs if they looked poorly. I have known since I was 3 years old that I wanted to care for children. I love that they’re so honest. When they feel better, you know it. Their perspective on life is enviable. Children really live each moment that they’re alive. They inspire me. I am passionate about searching for better ways to treat children with chronic diseases that affect them every day and find cures. This includes nonmalignant conditions like sickle cell disease that impact quality of life and longevity. I try to make a difference by being really parent-accessible and education-friendly. When parents and patients understand what I understand, they can fully cooperate in making treatment successful.I know that my patients need me to be as authentic as possible. Kids can pick out an adult who’s not being genuine with them. So I try always to put myself in their position, understand where they’re coming from and move from there to where we want to go. What is the definition of Malignant Peripheral Nerve Sheath Tumor?

A Malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumor (MPNST) is a tumor that develops in the protective lining that covers nerves. The first symptom of MPNST is often a lump or mass that increases in size, sometimes causing pain or a tingling sensation. MPNST is considered an aggressive tumor because there is up to a 65% chance of the tumor regrowing after surgery (a recurrence), and approximately 40% chance of spreading to distant parts of the body (a metastasis), most commonly to the lung. Approximately 25-50% of MPNSTs are associated with a genetic condition known as neurofibromatosis type 1.

When should I see a Malignant Peripheral Nerve Sheath Tumor doctor near Orlando, FL?

There are various reasons why you may want to see a specialist, such as:

    • Your primary care provider recommends it.
    • Your condition requires expert knowledge and specialized care.
    • Your symptoms persist or worsen despite treatment.
    • You need specialized testing or procedures.
    • You want a second opinion.

What should I consider when choosing a Malignant Peripheral Nerve Sheath Tumor doctor near Orlando, FL?

It’s important to see a provider with expertise in your specific condition. Each provider profile in MediFind’s doctor database includes information on which conditions they treat, years of experience, research contributions, languages spoken, insurance plans accepted, and more.

How does MediFind rank Malignant Peripheral Nerve Sheath Tumor doctors near Orlando, FL?

MediFind’s rankings are based on a variety of data sources, such as the number of articles a doctor has published in medical journals, participation in clinical trials and industry conferences, as well as the number of patients that provider sees for a given condition. Note that MediFind’s provider database is not based on user reviews, and providers do not pay to be included in the database.

What types of insurance are accepted by Malignant Peripheral Nerve Sheath Tumor doctors near Orlando, FL?

Most profiles in MediFind’s doctor database include a list of insurance plans accepted by that provider. However, it’s a good idea to contact the provider’s office to make sure they still accept your insurance, then doublecheck by contacting your insurance plan to confirm they’re in network.

How can I book an appointment online with a Malignant Peripheral Nerve Sheath Tumor doctor near Orlando, FL?

MediFind offers direct scheduling for certain providers using the “Request Appointment” button on that provider’s profile. If the schedule option is not available for a provider, tap the red “Show Phone Number” button on their profile to get their contact information. If you prefer to find providers who offer online scheduling, select “Schedules online” under the “Availability” category of the filter feature on the left side of the Malignant Peripheral Nerve Sheath Tumor doctor search results page.

Why is it important to get a second opinion from a different Malignant Peripheral Nerve Sheath Tumor doctor?

Second opinions are an opportunity to confirm a diagnosis and its root cause, learn about alternative treatment options, or simply gain peace of mind. Many people, especially those with serious diagnoses, get second opinions so they can understand all their options and make informed decisions, so don’t hesitate to get one if you have any doubts or need more information or clarification regarding your care. Note that some insurance plans require second opinions, while others don’t cover second opinions, so be sure to confirm with your insurance provider first.

How can I prepare for my appointment with a Malignant Peripheral Nerve Sheath Tumor doctor near Orlando, FL?

Prepare for your appointment by gathering the following items:

    • Copies of medical records (dating back at least one year)
    • Your medical history, including illnesses, medical conditions, surgeries, and other doctors you see
    • Family history of disease
    • List of current prescription drugs, over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal remedies or supplements including names and doses
    • Allergies to medications, food, latex, insects, etc.
    • List of questions and concerns
    • Your insurance card

You might also contact the provider’s office to see if they offer transportation or childcare services or if you’re allowed to bring a loved one for support or to take notes during your visit.

What questions should I ask my Malignant Peripheral Nerve Sheath Tumor doctor?

    Here are some sample questions:

    • Can you explain in simple terms what this condition is and how it’s treated?
    • What symptoms or side effects should I watch for?
    • What tests will be involved, and when can I expect results?
    • Are there other specialists I need to see?
    • What’s the best way to reach you if I have follow-up questions?

How can I learn about the latest clinical trials and research advances my Malignant Peripheral Nerve Sheath Tumor doctor may know about?

MediFind’s Clinical Trials tool asks you a series of questions to help you narrow down your search by health condition, age, gender, location, how far you’re willing to travel, and more. Each question you answer filters down the number of trials until you find the ones that are most relevant to you.

MediFind’s Latest Advances tool features summaries of recent articles published in medical journals. We use cutting-edge technology to scour medical publication databases for the latest research advancements on any given condition, then we simplify this information in a way that’s useful and easy to understand.

Can I filter my search to show male or female Malignant Peripheral Nerve Sheath Tumor doctors near Orlando, FL?

Look for the filter feature on the left side of the Malignant Peripheral Nerve Sheath Tumor doctor search results page. Select “Female” or “Male” under the “Gender” category to search for female or male providers exclusively. If the “Any” option is selected, it will pull results for both male and female providers.

Can I filter my search to find a Malignant Peripheral Nerve Sheath Tumor doctor that offers video calls?

Look for the filter feature on the left-side of the Malignant Peripheral Nerve Sheath Tumor doctor search results page. Select “Offers telehealth visits” under the Availability category to search for providers who offer virtual appointments (video calls).
