When people think about sleep disorders, they usually report getting too much or not enough sleep. That is the starting point where we work together to get to the root cause. What I have discovered in treating patients is that sleep medicine is multifactorial - you address attitudes around sleep, mental health, wellness, as well as consider other medical problems. Sleep apnea is one of the better-known sleep disorders, and the good news is that we have better technology today to treat it. I was inspired to be a doctor by my grandfather, a classic “black bag” physician, who practiced family medicine with grace, compassion, and enthusiasm I strive to emulate.
