He then obtained his medical degree, with honor, from Baylor College of Medicine, while taking advantage of the vast and diverse training opportunities in the Texas Medical Center. During his formal education, he developed an interest in global health, and received funding to work on projects internationally in Nicaragua, Argentina and India. This also spurred on his love of traveling, and he has now been to over 30 countries on 5 continents. He has also been to 43 of the 50 US states and eagerly hopes to see them all!He then went on to complete his internship at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center (an affiliate of Stanford) in San Jose, California, and then to Denver, Colorado, to complete his dermatology residency at the University of Colorado, where he was selected to serve as chief resident in his final year. In Colorado, he took advantage of the beautiful outdoors, frequently hiking and skiing. He summited several 14,000 ft peaks, and has skied at most of the major ski resorts in the state. This continues to be one of his favorite pastimes. In addition to his comprehensive dermatologic training in residency, he developed a particular interest in dermatopathology (interpreting skin biopsies), and went on to complete a fellowship at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, with several internationally recognized faculty members.
