Overview
Outside of my practice, I enjoy spending time with my beautiful wife and 4 children. As a native Arizonan, I love swimming and enjoy being outside whenever the weather is tolerable. I also enjoy watching, playing, and even coaching my kids in various sports. I am a college football fanatic. I also enjoy woodworking and doing projects around the house.

Dr. John Matthews is a board certified, fellowship trained orthopedic surgeon who serves the Dignity Health Medical Group and Dignity Health Hospitals. He was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society for top academic performance. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Buffalo, in Buffalo, NY. Dr. Matthews was awarded the Kaleida Health and AANA Resident Scholarship Awards. He was assistant team doctor for UB Division 1 Football, Women’s Soccer, and Men’s and Women’s Basketball. Dr. Matthews completed a fellowship in orthopedic sports surgery at the prestigious Thomas Jefferson Rothman Institute, Philadelphia, PA. He was an assistant team physician for the Philadelphia Eagles, Phillies, Fliers and Saint Joseph’s University Division 1 team coverage. He has multiple primary author publications and national presentations in orthopedic sports surgery.
