Kelly Phillips is a board-certified nurse practitioner specializing in cardiology at The Chattanooga Heart Institute. Kelly received a Master of Science in Nursing and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. She has more than 29 years of health care experience and has been a nurse practitioner for more than 22 years. Kelly has worked at The Chattanooga Heart Institute for 15 years.Kelly is passionate about educating patients regarding the disease process and treatment options and is thrilled when patients take an active role in their care. She works alongside cardiologists specializing in electrophysiology and is most excited about new methods of monitoring and treating heart failure patients. The introduction of new devices to pace the heart and monitor its current condition can help improve quality of life for many patients. Outside of work, Kelly enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters. She values the cultural and spiritual beliefs of her patients and works collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe and effective care. Her passion for cardiology began in nursing school, fueled by a family history of heart disease and a fascination with the complexities of the heart. She was inspired to become a provider after volunteering at a nursing home at the age of 11.In her free time, Genna enjoys watercolor painting and reading. She spends time with her boyfriend, his daughter, and her niece and nephew.
