Overview
If you’re an obstetrician, you have a celebration every day. That’s one of the reasons I chose this specialty when I was in medical school. I always had an interest in healing and biology, but with my field, it is fun even if you’re up in the middle of the night doing a delivery. When it comes to my patients, I think one of the most important things a physician can do is to listen to what they are saying. And, it’s also important to be able to explain what’s going on to patients at the level they can understand. Being able to communicate with each other is key. When I’m not welcoming new babies to the world, I love taking advantage of all the outdoor activities around here – I like hiking whitewater rafting and canoeing. I also like the climate. I’m from Long Island, N.Y., and my wife is from North Carolina, which is too hot for me. So we decided to settle here in Northeast Tennessee where the climate is great and it’s just a beautiful area. I also love animals. At my house we have a whole menagerie– dogs, cats and even a few goats.
