Philosophy of care | I believe all patients have the right to understand and make their own health decisions. I will spend time explaining your situation and your treatment options in an easy-to-understand way. By the end of your appointment, you will understand your vascular disease and feel comfortable making health choices. I make recommendations but strongly believe in your right to make your own decisions. When you come to see me, you will get information, not a lecture. | Why I entered medicine | At age 6 I went to work with my mother, an operating room nurse, on Take Your Daughter to Work Day. I had the opportunity to watch an aneurysm repair and never looked back. I've spent my entire life working in hospitals, from candy striping to being a vascular surgeon today. I consider it a great privilege to help people in this way and I'm grateful to my mom for opening this door to me so early. | Community involvement | My family includes several rescue pets, and we are longtime supporters of the organizations that rescued them. Nowadays, we spend most of our time supporting our two young children in their activities. | Personal interests | Most nights after the kids are asleep, you can find me in my quilting studio. My family and I also enjoy biking, travel and museums. My husband is from Ireland, and we travel back with our kids to visit family as often as we can. Philosophy of care | I think it’s fundamentally important that a solid relationship based on trust be created between myself and patients.  This is accomplished by working in a partnership with the patient to accomplish mutually defined health goals, by treating illnesses and diseases using strategies based on the best evidence, and by ensuring excellent bi-directional communication between myself and patients. | Why I entered medicine | After experiencing numerous injuries and illnesses while growing up, I became deeply familiar with the health care system from the perspective of the patient.  While this generated interest in the role physicians play from direct experience, it also created the desire to give back to others by helping to prevent illnesses and injuries, as well as to manage diseases that arise. | Community involvement | I have had ongoing sponsorship for disadvantaged kids who have suffered burn injuries to enable them to attend a special summer camp through the University of Michigan Burn Center. | Personal interests | I work to maintain my own well-being by spending time with my 20-year-love, Susan, my wonderful 4 kids, extended family and friends (as well as my huge dog, Bo, and multiple other furry and feathered friends).  Together we enjoy family movie nights, ice cream runs (not | every | night!), sporting events, and trips into NYC.  I might periodically also be spotted pounding the pavement on a run or getting muddy on a mountain bike. Philosophy of care | I believe a physician should be compassionate, dedicated and work well on a team. I encourage my patients to be an active participant in their health care. | Why I entered medicine | My mother was diagnosed with aplastic anemia when I was 8 years old. From a young age, I became familiar with hospitals, doctors and nurses. Compassionate doctors explained my mother's illness. This experience gave me a better understanding of the medical profession, specifically the important role of the physician. The dedication of the hospital staff inspired me to become a doctor. | Personal interests | I enjoy reading, cooking and playing Wii Fit, as well as spending time with my husband and daughter. Philosophy of care | My philosophy is to be compassionate and caring at all times. It's important to be there for you not only at a time of illness but also when things are going well so I can encourage good habits in your nutrition and ongoing health and wellness goals. | Why I entered medicine | I chose medicine because I wanted to help the sick and make them feel better. Throughout my career, I could do much more than that with decreasing the morbidity that is associated with so many illnesses. My goal is to keep my patients and those around me in positive health. I have had the privilege to work with multi-generational families and be a source of comfort during trying times. | Community involvement | I volunteer with several ministries at St. Jane’s parish, including the food pantry, St. Vincent de Paul Society and our parish health and wellness ministry. | Personal interests | I enjoy spending time playing piano, volunteering and practicing yoga. Philosophy of care | I believe in providing holistic care to patients. Too often in medicine, patients are seen as their disease and not as a whole person. I try my best to treat patients as full human beings, and always consider their backgrounds, culture, surroundings and the people in their lives who helped shape them. That’s a major reason why I went into family medicine. By listening and getting to know patients, I get a full sense of who they are. The relationship and trust we build is extremely meaningful and valuable to me, and allows me to provide the best care I can. | Why I entered medicine | I’ve always had a passion for helping others in need. When I was younger, I watched my mother go through so much pain and suffering due to a serious medical condition. She was fortunate to meet a group of excellent physicians and surgeons who not only changed her life but also changed my life and enabled me to dream of becoming something I never imagined: a doctor. After my mother regained her physical function, she was beyond grateful that she could provide for her two children again. She brought so much positive energy to our family. These physicians gave us hope and a second chance. I learned that a doctor can positively impact multiple lives at once and not just one person’s life. Now I try to do the same for others and share those special moments with them. | Community involvement | During my residency I volunteered in schools giving kids sports physicals. I found I loved working with children, and I especially enjoy caring for babies. Now, in addition to my regular practice, I elect to spend time doing rounds in the hospital nursery working with newborns. It is part of what I love about family medicine – the continuity of care. You start with babies, and then begin caring for the entire family. You really get to know each individual over the course of their lives. | Personal interests | My husband and I are huge foodies, and we love exploring different restaurants and trying new foods in the area. When I’m not sampling the local cuisine, I enjoy cooking Korean food at home, which I learned from my mom. I also love watching movies and TV shows after a long day of work – mostly dramas and thrillers. It’s my little reward, and a great way to unwind and relax. Dr. Patrylo is rated as an Experienced provider by MediFind in the treatment of Peptic Ulcer. Philosophy of care | I stress the importance of communication between my patients, their family members and me. Whether I am with a patient in the office or at the bedside, I spend as much time as is necessary to ensure all their questions are answered. It’s important that patients and families know what to expect before, during and after surgery. | Why I entered medicine | When I was growing up, I had the utmost respect for our family physician. When I was in high school, I joined a program that allowed students to rotate through different departments in a local hospital. It gave me the rare opportunity as a high school student to witness an open-heart procedure during the surgery rotation. That’s when surgery piqued my interest. I realized surgery was the area of medicine that allows people to see almost immediate symptom relief. That appealed to me. | Personal interests | I have three children. I enjoy spending my free time with them reading, playing and just watching them grow up. Dr. Garcia is rated as an Experienced provider by MediFind in the treatment of Peptic Ulcer. "Philosophy of care | To me, medicine is combining faith and evidence-based knowledge to prevent and treat illness, while encouraging an atmosphere of shared clinical decision-making. Involving you in your care allows you to engage and play an active role in your health. | Why I entered medicine | I grew up watching my dad, a physician, make such a difference in each of his patient's lives. Since I was a child, I knew how fulfilling and exciting a job in medicine can be. Every day I get to wake up, meet new people, and help each patient be the best and healthiest version of themselves. | Community involvement | My husband and I started a non-profit organization called ""Mission on Fire,"" which focuses on the core tenets of medicine, mission work and marriage. We hope to use our faith and skills in medicine to bring hope and healing all around the world though mission work. | Personal interests | I love cooking, playing tennis, traveling and spending time with my husband and family.". What is the definition of Peptic Ulcer?

A peptic ulcer is an open sore or raw area in the lining of the stomach (gastric ulcer) or in the first part of the small intestine (duodenal ulcer).

There are two types of peptic ulcers:

      • Gastric ulcer -- occurs in the stomach
      • Duodenal ulcer -- occurs in the first part of the small intestine

When should I see a Peptic Ulcer doctor near Milford, NJ?

There are various reasons why you may want to see a specialist, such as:

      • Your primary care provider recommends it.
      • Your condition requires expert knowledge and specialized care.
      • Your symptoms persist or worsen despite treatment.
      • You need specialized testing or procedures.
      • You want a second opinion.

What should I consider when choosing a Peptic Ulcer doctor near Milford, NJ?

It’s important to see a provider with expertise in your specific condition. Each provider profile in MediFind’s doctor database includes information on which conditions they treat, years of experience, research contributions, languages spoken, insurance plans accepted, and more.

How does MediFind rank Peptic Ulcer doctors near Milford, NJ?

MediFind’s rankings are based on a variety of data sources, such as the number of articles a doctor has published in medical journals, participation in clinical trials and industry conferences, as well as the number of patients that provider sees for a given condition. Note that MediFind’s provider database is not based on user reviews, and providers do not pay to be included in the database.

What types of insurance are accepted by Peptic Ulcer doctors near Milford, NJ?

Most profiles in MediFind’s doctor database include a list of insurance plans accepted by that provider. However, it’s a good idea to contact the provider’s office to make sure they still accept your insurance, then doublecheck by contacting your insurance plan to confirm they’re in network.

How can I book an appointment online with a Peptic Ulcer doctor near Milford, NJ?

MediFind offers direct scheduling for certain providers using the “Request Appointment” button on that provider’s profile. If the schedule option is not available for a provider, tap the red “Show Phone Number” button on their profile to get their contact information. If you prefer to find providers who offer online scheduling, select “Schedules online” under the “Availability” category of the filter feature on the left side of the Peptic Ulcer doctor search results page.

Why is it important to get a second opinion from a different Peptic Ulcer doctor?

Second opinions are an opportunity to confirm a diagnosis and its root cause, learn about alternative treatment options, or simply gain peace of mind. Many people, especially those with serious diagnoses, get second opinions so they can understand all their options and make informed decisions, so don’t hesitate to get one if you have any doubts or need more information or clarification regarding your care. Note that some insurance plans require second opinions, while others don’t cover second opinions, so be sure to confirm with your insurance provider first.

How can I prepare for my appointment with a Peptic Ulcer doctor near Milford, NJ?

Prepare for your appointment by gathering the following items:

      • Copies of medical records (dating back at least one year)
      • Your medical history, including illnesses, medical conditions, surgeries, and other doctors you see
      • Family history of disease
      • List of current prescription drugs, over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal remedies or supplements including names and doses
      • Allergies to medications, food, latex, insects, etc.
      • List of questions and concerns
      • Your insurance card

You might also contact the provider’s office to see if they offer transportation or childcare services or if you’re allowed to bring a loved one for support or to take notes during your visit.

What questions should I ask my Peptic Ulcer doctor?

      Here are some sample questions:

      • Can you explain in simple terms what this condition is and how it’s treated?
      • What symptoms or side effects should I watch for?
      • What tests will be involved, and when can I expect results?
      • Are there other specialists I need to see?
      • What’s the best way to reach you if I have follow-up questions?

How can I learn about the latest clinical trials and research advances my Peptic Ulcer doctor may know about?

MediFind’s Clinical Trials tool asks you a series of questions to help you narrow down your search by health condition, age, gender, location, how far you’re willing to travel, and more. Each question you answer filters down the number of trials until you find the ones that are most relevant to you.

MediFind’s Latest Advances tool features summaries of recent articles published in medical journals. We use cutting-edge technology to scour medical publication databases for the latest research advancements on any given condition, then we simplify this information in a way that’s useful and easy to understand.

Can I filter my search to show male or female Peptic Ulcer doctors near Milford, NJ?

Look for the filter feature on the left side of the Peptic Ulcer doctor search results page. Select “Female” or “Male” under the “Gender” category to search for female or male providers exclusively. If the “Any” option is selected, it will pull results for both male and female providers.

Can I filter my search to find a Peptic Ulcer doctor that offers video calls?

Look for the filter feature on the left-side of the Peptic Ulcer doctor search results page. Select “Offers telehealth visits” under the Availability category to search for providers who offer virtual appointments (video calls).
