Dr. Simonelli has been active in clinical research and has been the site principle investigator for several funded pulmonary medicine studies. He has special areas of interest in advanced lung disease, interstitial lung disease and chronic airways disease including asthma and COPD. He has been active nationally in the COPD Foundation, recently serving as chair of its Clinical Advisory Committee. Dr. Simonelli chairs the section on Advanced Lung Disease within the Pulmonary Department, and he has a lead role in systemwide protocol development and population management of asthma and COPD.
