I enjoy practicing nephrology and taking care of patients with kidney disorders. My clinical interests include management of uncontrolled high blood pressure, chronic kidney disease, acute kidney failure, and fluid and electrolyte disorders. I also have particular interest in the evaluation and management of kidney diseases affecting cancer patients (onco-nephrology).

In my outpatient practice, I take care of patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). In my hospital work, I evaluate and care for patients with acute kidney injury and with electrolyte disorders. In clinical research, I am experienced in serving on steering committees for multicenter clinical trials in CKD, including work with National Institutes of Health (NIH)-funded trials -- the African American Study of Kidney Disease and Hypertension (AASK), the AASK Cohort Study, the Dialysis Access Consortium, and the Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) treatment trial. I recently joined the steering committee for the NIDDK consortium, pilot studies of candidate therapies for CKD. I am active in multiple industry-sponsored clinical trials. I am a member of the executive committee for the Collaborative Study Group, a consortium that has implemented several successful clinical trials in nephrology.
