Nemours Children's Hospital, Florida
Prior to joining the Nemours, Dr. Viswanathan served as a faculty member of the Innovative Feeding Disorders Program at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, Columbus, Ohio. His academic vision is to develop translational clinical research protocols to transform dysfunctional feeding patterns in NICU infants. He has published more than 25 peer-reviewed articles and is an active peer reviewer for a dozen leading pediatric journals. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a member of the Dysphagia Research Society. After my extensive pediatric training in India, UK and the US, I found looking after and caring for critically ill newborn children to be my calling and decided to become a neonatologist. There is nothing more satisfying than watching an unwell newborn baby get better and go home. I believe in the adage “There are two things we should give our children: one is roots and the other is wings.” Being born early or sick is not something we can control, but I strive to provide the best possible care to enable them to hold their ground in the world outside of the NICU. There have been many advances in neonatal care in recent years. I am an avid researcher and believe in evidence-based practices to provide the most up-to-date care. I am particularly passionate about preventing and solving feeding and nutrition-related disorders in neonates as I strongly believe that optimizing early nutrition and growth is critical for the long-term health of newborn babies. No two babies are the same. This is especially true in neonatology. I treat every baby with passion and purpose by putting the babies and their families at the center of everything by sharing timely information and building trust. I believe in working collaboratively with my team and partnering with parents for the best possible outcome for each and every baby. Dr. Viswanathan is rated as a Distinguished provider by MediFind in the treatment of Premature Infant. He is also highly rated in 2 other conditions, according to our data. His clinical expertise encompasses Premature Infant, Gastroesophageal Reflux in Infants, Necrotizing Enterocolitis, and Anemia. Dr. Viswanathan is board certified in American Board Of Pediatrics.
Nemours Children's Hospital, Florida
Dr. Claudia Taboada is a board-certified maternal fetal medicine specialist at Nemours Children’s Hospital. She has been an invited lecturer, an associate professor in maternal fetal medicine and obstetrics/gynecology, and has published medical journal articles in her field. For her work, Dr. Taboada was named a March of Dimes Medical Honoree for 2019. When I was in kindergarten I told my parents I wanted to be a doctor. I remember this was shortly after having to go to the emergency department for an injury on my foot. I was fascinated by the doctors I met and everything that was happening around me. My parents encouraged me to pursue my dream. They encouraged and supported me during all my education. I remember that they brought me groceries in college and medical school. I was very lucky in that aspect. I wanted to pursue pediatric emergency medicine when I started medical school. I believe it was all linked to my childhood experience. However, as I rotated as a third-year medical student, I was drawn to internal medicine with a focus on women's health. Maternal Fetal Medicine allows me to take care of women with high-risk, pre-existing medical conditions during their pregnancies. MFM also allows me to manage high-risk pregnancies, such as multiple gestations or abnormal fetal structural findings on ultrasound. I treat my patients like family. I am honest with them and convey that my role is to make sure they have the best maternal and fetal outcome. I work hard to establish a good relationship with my colleagues to ensure good patient care. I hope that my patients will feel confident that we will provide them with the best care during their pregnancy, forming multidisciplinary teams for their needs — including, as needed, team members from a variety of medical specialties at Nemours, social work and others. I have a special interest in diagnostic testing (amniocentesis and CVS), cerclage placement and preterm labor. And, in a prior position, I started a program for medication-assisted treatment in pregnancy for women with an opioid addiction. I worked closely with the NICU team and the primary OB team. I would like to continue the outreach into my new community here at Nemours. Dr. Taboada is rated as an Advanced provider by MediFind in the treatment of Premature Infant.
