I have been working with cancer patients for more than 10 years, specifically patients with blood cancers. I have a passion for blood cancers and the relationships I develop with my patients and their loved ones. It is such a rewarding experience to be able to provide care and hope to these amazing patients. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with family, getting away to the mountains, and watching college basketball!. What brings a Virginia girl to North Carolina? Her dream job! After spending multiple clinical rotations with oncology patients, I knew that I wanted to be an oncology provider for the rest of my life. I moved to North Carolina and started my nursing career at Duke on the inpatient hematologic malignancy unit 9100. After five years of working as a nurse in 9100, I decided to pursue my graduate degree (MSN, FNP). I now act as a nurse practitioner within the Division of Hematologic Malignancy and Cell Therapy where I work with patients who have multiple myeloma. I act as a front-line provider caring for patients undergoing active treatment with chemotherapy or immunotherapy both on and off research clinical trial. I believe that open communication and working together with my patients and their loved ones as a team creates better health outcomes. Ms. Addis is rated as an Advanced provider by MediFind in the treatment of Relapsed Refractory Multiple Myeloma (RRMM). Her top areas of expertise are Relapsed Refractory Multiple Myeloma (RRMM), Smoldering Multiple Myeloma, and POEMS Syndrome.
