Philosophy of care | I strongly believe health care access should be for all. A caring doctor not only knows a patient's medical problems, but also is closely aware of the patient's circumstances and living environment. I entered medicine because I love science and for the dignity and respect doctors carry in society. | Community involvement | During more than two decades in the Lehigh Valley area, I have been involved through my mosque in community projects such as free clinics and soup kitchens. I have participated in LVHN charity walks and colorectal cancer awareness events. I also have been an active member of the Association of Physicians of Pakistani Descent of North America, which undertakes educational and legislative campaigns. | Personal interests | I am interested in reading world history, enjoy listening to music and watching cricket. Philosophy of care | For health to work, it truly needs to be individualized and centered on you. Everyone is different and it's hard to fit everyone into a medical textbook mold. I believe many things can be achieved by understanding disease processes, and sometimes less is more. Medications and procedures all have risks and benefits and deciding what truly needs to be prescribed or done is a discussion between me and you. Just because something can be done doesn't always mean it should be done. | Why I entered medicine | I entered medicine to help people take control of their health, feel empowered and make positive life changes based on informed decisions with me as a guide. Understanding the human body is challenging and it’s my job to translate all the medical jargon so you understand what is happening to you, why it is happening and what options you have. I've always viewed medicine as a partnership with patients and not a dictatorship; most people enjoy being in control of their own bodies and health. | Personal interests | I spend most of my free time outside with my husband and daughters hiking, biking, jogging or snowboarding and just living and being in the moment. Dr. Patek is rated as an Experienced provider by MediFind in the treatment of Rotor Syndrome. Her top areas of expertise are Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD), Gastritis, Chronic Erosive Gastritis, Endoscopy, and Colonoscopy.

I believe in a collaborative approach, empowering patients with knowledge and being actively involved in treatment decisions. Liver disease, in particular, often affects individuals and their family in profound ways, and I find it incredibly rewarding to help patients navigate their care, from diagnosis to advanced treatments like a transplant. | Personal interests | I enjoy cooking and traveling, as well as time with family and close friends. Philosophy of care | My principal aim is to treat all patients as I would want my family and friends to be treated: with dignity, respect and compassion. I want you to walk away from our first visit feeling seen and heard and knowing your experiences, thoughts and opinions regarding your care matter. I empower you and your caregivers with knowledge regarding your condition and how to navigate life with it. Living with liver disease can be incredibly difficult and overwhelming, so I am willing to walk with you every step of the way. | Why I entered medicine | Two reasons: my desire to care for others and my love for learning about the inner workings of the human body. I was drawn to the field of liver disease specifically because of the intellectual challenges inherent in caring for those with liver disease as well as the long-term relationships I am able to form with patients and their families. It is a career that challenges and humbles me on a daily basis, and I wouldn't have it any other way. | Personal interests | My family is my everything, and there is nothing more wonderful than spending time with them and watching my two children grow. Additionally, I love to garden, cook (though toddlers are the toughest food critics), make ice cream and ride my bike. Philosophy of care | I believe a strong physician-patient relationship is key to providing excellent care. You should be able to trust that your physician is open and honest about your care. | Why I entered medicine | Growing up, I spent a lot of time at my dad's medical office and as a volunteer at a local hospital, observing the interactions between physicians and their patients. It was amazing to see how happy and grateful patients were when they were able to maintain their health or felt better after treatment. This instilled in me a desire to want to help people feel their best. | Community involvement | I helped to take care of the uninsured population at the health centers in Philadelphia during my years of training and I hope to continue by helping the underserved population in the Lehigh Valley. | Personal interests | I love Philadelphia sports, traveling, trying new foods and spending time with my family. Dr. Javia is rated as an Experienced provider by MediFind in the treatment of Rotor Syndrome. What is the definition of Rotor Syndrome?

Rotor syndrome is a relatively mild condition characterized by elevated levels of a substance called bilirubin in the blood (hyperbilirubinemia). Bilirubin is produced when red blood cells are broken down. It has an orange-yellow tint, and buildup of this substance can cause yellowing of the skin or whites of the eyes (jaundice). In people with Rotor syndrome, jaundice is usually evident shortly after birth or in childhood and may come and go; yellowing of the whites of the eyes (also called conjunctival icterus) is often the only symptom.

When should I see a Rotor Syndrome doctor near Bethlehem, PA?

There are various reasons why you may want to see a specialist, such as:

    • Your primary care provider recommends it.
    • Your condition requires expert knowledge and specialized care.
    • Your symptoms persist or worsen despite treatment.
    • You need specialized testing or procedures.
    • You want a second opinion.

What should I consider when choosing a Rotor Syndrome doctor near Bethlehem, PA?

It’s important to see a provider with expertise in your specific condition. Each provider profile in MediFind’s doctor database includes information on which conditions they treat, years of experience, research contributions, languages spoken, insurance plans accepted, and more.

How does MediFind rank Rotor Syndrome doctors near Bethlehem, PA?

MediFind’s rankings are based on a variety of data sources, such as the number of articles a doctor has published in medical journals, participation in clinical trials and industry conferences, as well as the number of patients that provider sees for a given condition. Note that MediFind’s provider database is not based on user reviews, and providers do not pay to be included in the database.

What types of insurance are accepted by Rotor Syndrome doctors near Bethlehem, PA?

Most profiles in MediFind’s doctor database include a list of insurance plans accepted by that provider. However, it’s a good idea to contact the provider’s office to make sure they still accept your insurance, then doublecheck by contacting your insurance plan to confirm they’re in network.

How can I book an appointment online with a Rotor Syndrome doctor near Bethlehem, PA?

MediFind offers direct scheduling for certain providers using the “Request Appointment” button on that provider’s profile. If the schedule option is not available for a provider, tap the red “Show Phone Number” button on their profile to get their contact information. If you prefer to find providers who offer online scheduling, select “Schedules online” under the “Availability” category of the filter feature on the left side of the Rotor Syndrome doctor search results page.

Why is it important to get a second opinion from a different Rotor Syndrome doctor?

Second opinions are an opportunity to confirm a diagnosis and its root cause, learn about alternative treatment options, or simply gain peace of mind. Many people, especially those with serious diagnoses, get second opinions so they can understand all their options and make informed decisions, so don’t hesitate to get one if you have any doubts or need more information or clarification regarding your care. Note that some insurance plans require second opinions, while others don’t cover second opinions, so be sure to confirm with your insurance provider first.

How can I prepare for my appointment with a Rotor Syndrome doctor near Bethlehem, PA?

Prepare for your appointment by gathering the following items:

    • Copies of medical records (dating back at least one year)
    • Your medical history, including illnesses, medical conditions, surgeries, and other doctors you see
    • Family history of disease
    • List of current prescription drugs, over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal remedies or supplements including names and doses
    • Allergies to medications, food, latex, insects, etc.
    • List of questions and concerns
    • Your insurance card

You might also contact the provider’s office to see if they offer transportation or childcare services or if you’re allowed to bring a loved one for support or to take notes during your visit.

What questions should I ask my Rotor Syndrome doctor?

    Here are some sample questions:

    • Can you explain in simple terms what this condition is and how it’s treated?
    • What symptoms or side effects should I watch for?
    • What tests will be involved, and when can I expect results?
    • Are there other specialists I need to see?
    • What’s the best way to reach you if I have follow-up questions?

How can I learn about the latest clinical trials and research advances my Rotor Syndrome doctor may know about?

MediFind’s Clinical Trials tool asks you a series of questions to help you narrow down your search by health condition, age, gender, location, how far you’re willing to travel, and more. Each question you answer filters down the number of trials until you find the ones that are most relevant to you.

MediFind’s Latest Advances tool features summaries of recent articles published in medical journals. We use cutting-edge technology to scour medical publication databases for the latest research advancements on any given condition, then we simplify this information in a way that’s useful and easy to understand.

Can I filter my search to show male or female Rotor Syndrome doctors near Bethlehem, PA?

Look for the filter feature on the left side of the Rotor Syndrome doctor search results page. Select “Female” or “Male” under the “Gender” category to search for female or male providers exclusively. If the “Any” option is selected, it will pull results for both male and female providers.

Can I filter my search to find a Rotor Syndrome doctor that offers video calls?

Look for the filter feature on the left-side of the Rotor Syndrome doctor search results page. Select “Offers telehealth visits” under the Availability category to search for providers who offer virtual appointments (video calls).
