William S. Payne, PA

I was born and raised in Virginia. I attended Virginia Tech for my undergraduate degree where being a member of the Virginia Tech Rescue Squad provided me the direction in pursuing a career in medicine. I furthered my education at The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Washington, DC in their Physician Assistant Studies Program. After graduating in 1987, I accepted a position with the E.I. DuPont Company in Kinston, NC and practiced General and Occupational Medicine for a plant population of 2,500 people. For the past 23 years I have worked in collaboration with Dr. Scot Reeg MD, in the specialty of spine surgery providing care to pediatric, adolescent, and adult patients with simple to complex spine issues. As a Physician Assistant I am fortunate to have the time to spend with my patients listening to their concerns, performing a detailed physical examination and developing a treatment plan with the patients active participation in the process.  I have been married for 30 years to the love of my life and have two wonderful grown children. In my free time I enjoy exercising, hiking, traveling, and cooking.
