Overview
As an allergist and immunologist, and the spouse of someone with a food allergy, I bring both professional expertise and personal insight to my work. I am passionate about improving the quality of life for those with asthma, eczema, and food and environmental allergies. Having firsthand experience with the real-world challenges of managing allergic conditions, I take a collaborative approach to care, partnering with families to develop treatment plans that are not only effective, but also practical and aligned with their goals. I also have the privilege of caring for children with primary immunodeficiencies, including severe combined immunodeficiency and congenital athymia. My research focuses on optimizing newborn screening guidelines for these conditions, particularly in premature infants. I am committed to advancing treatment strategies and providing compassionate support to families navigating these complex conditions. Outside of work, I cherish time with my spouse and two children and take every opportunity to enjoy the outdoors.

I first became interested in pursuing a career in medicine after being a camp counselor for children with autoimmune type I diabetes when I was in college. I wanted to learn more about and care for patients who had autoimmune diseases and immune dysregulation, which is what led to my dual training in both rheumatology and allergy immunology. My clinical practice, where I teach medical students, residents and rheumatology and allergy/immunology fellows, reflects this comprehensive immunologic approach. Diseases in which I have particular expertise include rheumatoid arthritis, Sjogren's syndrome, autoimmune inflammatory eye disease and common variable immune deficiency (CVID). I have several family members who also have autoimmune diseases and I have learned that care can be long term and involve a team approach. As a result, patient-centered care has become a personal goal. Dr. Tarrant is rated as an Advanced provider by MediFind in the treatment of Severe Combined Immunodeficiency (SCID). Her top areas of expertise are Common Variable Immune Deficiency, Primary Immunodeficiency (PID), Severe Combined Immunodeficiency (SCID), and Arthritis.

I am an immunologist who treats primary immunodeficiencies in children and adults. I see patients with recurrent infections and fevers, drug allergies, hereditary angioedema, and secondary immunodeficiencies. Our program offers cutting-edge clinical trials to provide the best treatment options for patients with immunodeficiencies. When I first meet patients, I try to put them at ease. Coming to a doctor's office can cause a lot of anxiety, especially for children. I try to identify key issues, as well as strategies to help with those problems. My goal is to improve the quality of life for children and adults so they can lead a normal life. Outside of work, I enjoy martial arts, gardening, cooking, and spending time with my wife and three children.
