Dr. Gwendolyn A. Sowa

Gwendolyn Sowa, MD, PhD, is a physiatrist and is certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. She is the chair of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, the director of the UPMC Rehabilitation Institute, and the medical director of UPMC Total Care - Musculoskeletal Health. At the University of Pittsburgh, she is a professor, the co-director of the Ferguson Laboratory for Orthopaedic and Spine Research, and holds joint appointments in the Departments of Orthopaedic Surgery and Bioengineering. Dr. Sowa received her medical degree from the University of Wisconsin and completed her residency at Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, Northwestern University.
