Both of my parents were in the medical field and strongly influenced the direction of my career. I became a physical therapist, which I enjoyed immensely, but I thought I could make a different contribution to patient care by becoming a physician. In radiology, we are part of the medical team that helps diagnose or exclude an illness and we help to direct the course of our patient’s treatment. Working with children is an amazing experience. Kids are so resilient and bounce back from all types of difficult situations. They each have such a unique perspective and we try our best to tailor our interactive imaging procedures to the child. Sometimes this involves providing anatomy lessons to teen patients, other times it involves just “getting it over with.” We aim to make our imaging procedures as interesting and as comfortable as possible. My areas of interest include: Pediatric Body Imaging  Fetal Imaging Child Abuse I try to provide the most accurate information based on our imaging studies to the patient’s medical team so that the child can be treated as quickly as possible. I am fortunate to work with an incredible group of medical practitioners at Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children who share my passion to provide the highest quality medical care to all children. Dr. Harty is rated as an Advanced provider by MediFind in the treatment of Sprengel Deformity. She is also highly rated in 52 other conditions, according to our data. Her clinical expertise encompasses X-Linked Spondyloepiphyseal Dysplasia Tarda, Weissenbacher-Zweymuller Syndrome, Kniest Dysplasia, and Spondyloepiphyseal Dysplasia. I’m a kid at heart, and I usually express that in my work. When I was accepted into my pediatric fellowship, following a residency in orthopedics, I knew my professional life would always center on kids. I’m a doer and my favorite quote by Emerson is, “What you do speaks so loudly that I can't hear what you say.” Whether as a doctor, parent, or coach, I really enjoy working with kids. I’ve always found the human body fascinating and mystifying in all its complexity. The science of growth is absolutely amazing. I’m passionate about working with kids. I’ve taken a group of middle school recreational runners to two league championships. I also received a national coaching award at Stanford University. In my research, I’ve helped develop new surgical techniques for an extremely difficult condition called osteogenesis imperfecta. I was born in India to a family of doctors, so I did not have to look far for inspiration. I’m married to a pediatric cardiologist, also with duPont Hospital for Children, and I’m grateful for the opportunities I have every day to improve lives for kids and their families. As a father and surgeon, I have a soft spot for helping children in any way I can. It’s a privilege to be able to improve their lives even if there are challenges. I love to see kids getting back to enjoying life to its fullest and being able to help people deal with difficult issues. One of my proudest professional moments was the day I walked into the operating room and had the privilege to start surgically caring for children. I’m still passionate about my work and the opportunities I have every day to improve the lives of kids, one child at a time. The children I treat have serious medical problems, and it takes a whole team of professionals, working in lots of related medical and sociological fields, to make a difference in their lives, and the lives of their families. It’s an honor to be part of that team. At the end of the day, it’s all about the kids. Dr. Thacker is rated as an Experienced provider by MediFind in the treatment of Sprengel Deformity. David Saul was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pa. He attended Drexel University for undergraduate studies in biology and premedical education. David also attended Drexel University's College of Medicine to obtain his MD. Subsequently, he completed his internship and residency in diagnostic radiology at Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia. He completed a fellowship in pediatric radiology at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. He has worked as an attending radiologist in both private and academic practices, before joining Nemours in September 2019. I believe that children are uniquely deserving of our best care because they are innocent, vulnerable and often unaware or not fully aware of their disease. Being a sick kid can be terrifying, and I want to be there to help in some way. I also greatly appreciate and enjoy how often children can recover from seemingly insurmountable disease. Far from making me sad to see illness in a child, it makes me hopeful to think about his/her potential for health and wellness and to enjoy a full life after receiving appropriate treatment. I am driven by a sense of justice, and that the children we serve deserve our best. I care deeply that we provide care in the most up to date, efficient, honest and accurate way possible.  My medial interests include: Education Thoracic Imaging Cardiac Imaging Body Imaging Ultrasound MRI I try to lead by example, to give my best effort for every child, and take as much time as needed with each family that I encounter. I know that many of the families I see, by the time they arrive in my department, are having the worst day of their lives. I want to provide comfort, reassurance and a smile in those times of difficulty because I would want the same for my family. Dr. Saul is rated as an Advanced provider by MediFind in the treatment of Sprengel Deformity. He is also highly rated in 127 other conditions, according to our data. His clinical expertise encompasses Caudal Regression Syndrome, Spondylocarpotarsal Synostosis Syndrome, Scoliosis, Hypochondroplasia, and Angioplasty. I am a Nemours radiologist based in Wilmington, Del. at Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children. I grew up in a family with several close family members working in various fields of health care, who I looked up to as role models. I appreciated from them that joining a medical field not only brought the responsibility of staying on top of the most up-to-date science-based treatments, but also being able to relay this to patients and their families with great empathy and compassion. I used to work primarily with adults and branched out during my career into a pediatric setting, and have absolutely enjoyed working exclusively with children ever since. Children bring such hope, energy and joy, lighting up each encounter. Their current health and well-being is crucial to their growth into a healthy adulthood. It’s a rewarding and humbling privilege to have the opportunity to try and make a positive difference in these children’s and their families lives for the better. I am passionate about working with children and their families as well as our referring physicians to find the best imaging tools possible to most efficiently and accurately identify what’s going on. In this way, patients and family members, together with their clinicians, can make the best decisions of the most appropriate care for their children. My special interests include:  imaging of sports related injuries  musculoskeletal imaging As a radiologist who is also a parent, I try to step into the caregivers’ shoes when working with children and treat them as I would want my own family treated. I try to educate the patient and family so they understand what tests are being done and what the results mean so they can be knowledgeable as they move forward with the best possible care. Even at the start of my medical training, I knew I wanted to be in a field where I get to work with children. After my first child was born premature and required NICU-level care, that experience only intensified my desire to work with kids. Having a child requiring medical care is both scary and stressful. As a pediatric radiologist, my goal is to help alleviate those feelings for parents and children by providing the best radiology service and making it as kid friendly as possible. Pediatric radiology is a perfect fit for me. As a pediatric radiologist, I get to work as a consultant with many clinicians in different pediatric fields. Though radiologists are often behind the scenes, we play a vital role in diagnosing the problem, so that children can be treated and feel better. I am passionate about all areas of pediatric radiology including neuroradiology, musculoskeletal imaging and body imaging. I also work with all modalities including X-ray, ultrasound, fluoroscopy, CT and MRI. One of my roles as a radiologist is as a consultant, working with clinicians to ensure that we do the best test with the lowest radiation possible. As radiologists, we are always working to come up with new imaging techniques that can avoid or lower radiation and be more kid friendly. I care for children both at Nemours/A.I. duPont Hospital and the Nemours Deptford Specialty Care and Surgery Center. At our Deptford location, you may see me involved in fluoroscopy, ultrasound and X-ray. I also perform joint injections for MRI arthrograms at our Deptford location, many which are performed to evaluate sports injuries, joint pain or congenital abnormalities. I began my medical career as a practicing pediatrician in Pittsburgh. During those five years, I realized that I wanted to be the doctor who is instrumental in figuring out what is wrong. So I retrained with a fellowship in pediatric radiology. I treat children because I love kids and I feel a wonderful sense of accomplishment if I can make the life of a sick or injured child easier. In radiology, I am passionate about making a diagnosis as quickly and accurately as possible so a child can receive the proper treatment. Outside of work, I am passionate about my family, dancing, Broadway shows and sunny days. When I was a practicing pediatrician, I realized that the most important part of anyone’s care is a proper diagnosis, which is not always easy to ascertain. I try to make a difference by making the most accurate diagnoses possible. Dr. Bron is rated as an Experienced provider by MediFind in the treatment of Sprengel Deformity. I grew up in China’s Hunan province as an active, athletic child. My mom was a physician and my dad was a medical school professor, so I had great role models. Today I’m a radiologist focusing on pediatric musculoskeletal and body imaging, with concentration on X-rays, MRIs, CT scans, ultrasound, and fluoroscopy (how things move inside the body). I am certified in diagnostic radiology and subspecialized in pediatric radiology by the American Board of Radiology. I have been working over 17 years, and remain an active member of the Radiological Society of North America and Society of Pediatric Radiology. I really like kids, and I’m glad to help whenever I can. I work closely with clinical teams to help make sure each child’s diagnosis is correct. I enjoy sharing my expertise with other physicians and learning from them. It’s great to get an understanding of how they approach a diagnosis. I think everyone should have access to quality healthcare. Nemours does because we treat all children regardless of their ability to pay. That’s important to me. I have a passion to be part of excellent medical care for children and do my best to provide the best services possible for each child. I believe in working as a team with the medical associates, patients and families to provide compassionate and high-quality care. What is the definition of Sprengel Deformity?

Sprengel deformity is a congenital condition characterized by abnormal development and elevation of the shoulder blade (scapula). Severity can range considerably from being almost invisible when covered with clothes, to the shoulder being elevated over 5 centimeters, with neck webbing. Signs and symptoms may include a lump in the back of the base of the neck and limited movement in the shoulder or arm. The condition may also be associated with other skeletal (bone or cartilage) or muscular abnormalities. Sprengel deformity typically occurs sporadically for no apparent reason but autosomal dominant inheritance has been reported. It is caused by an interruption of normal development and movement of the scapula during early fetal growth (probably between the 9th and 12th weeks of gestation).

When should I see a Sprengel Deformity doctor near Wilmington, DE?

There are various reasons why you may want to see a specialist, such as:

    • Your primary care provider recommends it.
    • Your condition requires expert knowledge and specialized care.
    • Your symptoms persist or worsen despite treatment.
    • You need specialized testing or procedures.
    • You want a second opinion.

What should I consider when choosing a Sprengel Deformity doctor near Wilmington, DE?

It’s important to see a provider with expertise in your specific condition. Each provider profile in MediFind’s doctor database includes information on which conditions they treat, years of experience, research contributions, languages spoken, insurance plans accepted, and more.

How does MediFind rank Sprengel Deformity doctors near Wilmington, DE?

MediFind’s rankings are based on a variety of data sources, such as the number of articles a doctor has published in medical journals, participation in clinical trials and industry conferences, as well as the number of patients that provider sees for a given condition. Note that MediFind’s provider database is not based on user reviews, and providers do not pay to be included in the database.

What types of insurance are accepted by Sprengel Deformity doctors near Wilmington, DE?

Most profiles in MediFind’s doctor database include a list of insurance plans accepted by that provider. However, it’s a good idea to contact the provider’s office to make sure they still accept your insurance, then doublecheck by contacting your insurance plan to confirm they’re in network.

How can I book an appointment online with a Sprengel Deformity doctor near Wilmington, DE?

MediFind offers direct scheduling for certain providers using the “Request Appointment” button on that provider’s profile. If the schedule option is not available for a provider, tap the red “Show Phone Number” button on their profile to get their contact information. If you prefer to find providers who offer online scheduling, select “Schedules online” under the “Availability” category of the filter feature on the left side of the Sprengel Deformity doctor search results page.

Why is it important to get a second opinion from a different Sprengel Deformity doctor?

Second opinions are an opportunity to confirm a diagnosis and its root cause, learn about alternative treatment options, or simply gain peace of mind. Many people, especially those with serious diagnoses, get second opinions so they can understand all their options and make informed decisions, so don’t hesitate to get one if you have any doubts or need more information or clarification regarding your care. Note that some insurance plans require second opinions, while others don’t cover second opinions, so be sure to confirm with your insurance provider first.

How can I prepare for my appointment with a Sprengel Deformity doctor near Wilmington, DE?

Prepare for your appointment by gathering the following items:

    • Copies of medical records (dating back at least one year)
    • Your medical history, including illnesses, medical conditions, surgeries, and other doctors you see
    • Family history of disease
    • List of current prescription drugs, over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal remedies or supplements including names and doses
    • Allergies to medications, food, latex, insects, etc.
    • List of questions and concerns
    • Your insurance card

You might also contact the provider’s office to see if they offer transportation or childcare services or if you’re allowed to bring a loved one for support or to take notes during your visit.

What questions should I ask my Sprengel Deformity doctor?

    Here are some sample questions:

    • Can you explain in simple terms what this condition is and how it’s treated?
    • What symptoms or side effects should I watch for?
    • What tests will be involved, and when can I expect results?
    • Are there other specialists I need to see?
    • What’s the best way to reach you if I have follow-up questions?

How can I learn about the latest clinical trials and research advances my Sprengel Deformity doctor may know about?

MediFind’s Clinical Trials tool asks you a series of questions to help you narrow down your search by health condition, age, gender, location, how far you’re willing to travel, and more. Each question you answer filters down the number of trials until you find the ones that are most relevant to you.

MediFind’s Latest Advances tool features summaries of recent articles published in medical journals. We use cutting-edge technology to scour medical publication databases for the latest research advancements on any given condition, then we simplify this information in a way that’s useful and easy to understand.

Can I filter my search to show male or female Sprengel Deformity doctors near Wilmington, DE?

Look for the filter feature on the left side of the Sprengel Deformity doctor search results page. Select “Female” or “Male” under the “Gender” category to search for female or male providers exclusively. If the “Any” option is selected, it will pull results for both male and female providers.

Can I filter my search to find a Sprengel Deformity doctor that offers video calls?
