I attended medical school at St. Joseph University, a Jesuit school in Beirut, Lebanon, founded in 1875. I followed this with an internship at the American University of Beirut. My wife, Dr. Amal Khoury, and I have lived in Tennessee for over 20 years. It's home for us, as well as for our son and daughter. We love the people and the mountains. I'm involved in our church and do community work overseas. I love to travel and have been to every state (except Alaska) as well as half of Europe and several other countries in Asia. At a young age, I wanted to become a doctor. My parents made sure our education was their priority. My sister became a dentist, and my brother is also an OB/GYN. I like to connect with people, so I felt medicine would give me an opportunity to interact with people and help them. I was in my second year of medical school when I first delivered a baby, and I knew that was what I wanted to be. After moving to this area in 1984 to practice, I still find myself in Kingsport after all these years. I met my wife here and am still close in proximity to my hometown of Prestonsburg, Kentucky.
