Overview
Thomas Morland, MD, is a board-certified physician specializing in internal medicine. Dr. Morland has a special interest in preventing chronic illness through lifestyle changes.|“I enjoy working with patients on intensive prevention and placing lifestyle first,” he says. “I find that by incorporating whole foods into their diets, getting more exercise, improving sleep and managing stress, patients can stabilize or even reverse chronic medical conditions and decrease their reliance on medications.”|Dr. Morland attended Yale University, where he received his medical degree, and completed his residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Morland is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American College of Lifestyle Medicine.|“The best part of my job is seeing a patient exceed expectations,” he says. “It's great to provide the ‘standard of care,’ but when a patient takes their health into their own hands and collaborates with their healthcare team, we can see patients achieve things they never thought possible.”|Dr. Morland enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, playing the string bass and piano, hiking, playing soccer and swimming. His family has an organic garden in their backyard where “we try to put our own advice into practice,” he says.

I try to follow the best evidence-based medicine guidelines for testing and treatment. I enjoy working to promote healthy lifestyles and preventative care to keep you well. I believe it is important to work together with you to create a plan of care that's right for you. I will try to be your advocate and help coordinate all of your care needs as your primary care physician. I also have a special interest in geriatrics and long-term care medicine. It is my goal to provide older adults and nursing home residents the highest-quality, compassionate care for optimum health, function, and quality of life. | Why I entered medicine | I became a doctor because I want to make each and every day meaningful, and make a positive impact on your health. I chose internal medicine because it allows me to establish long-term relationships with my patients. I truly enjoy the follow-up care and ongoing relationships I have with my patients, welcoming back the same patients again and again. It is my goal to help manage all of your health care needs - promoting healthy lifestyles, managing chronic conditions, treating illness and coordinating the transition between specialists, hospitals, and other caregivers. I believe it is important for every patient to have one physician who can act as a coordinator of care and to be involved at some level in all of their health care needs. | Community involvement | I serve as the medical director for both Gracedale Nursing Home in Northampton County and The Good Shepherd Home in Bethlehem. | Personal interests | I have been married to my wonderful wife Jennifer since 1998. When I am not at work I enjoy helping her with her jewelry business on weekends. I am also the proud father of two beautiful daughters. Some of my hobbies include running, gardening, hiking and playing with my energetic Chesapeake Bay retriever and our two cats.
