It can be difficult to cure some ailments, but taking the time to share information and come to a joint treatment decision can be impactful.My mother was a nurse so I was exposed to the medical profession from an early age and knew I wanted to be a physician. As a medical student, I watched as surgeons carefully dissected out a nerve that controls facial movement. Though their movements were slow and meticulous, time flew and I knew Otolaryngology was the field for me.In my spare time, I enjoy spending time outdoors with my family, skiing, reading, and cooking.

Sacramento Ear Nose & Throat
A highly accomplished physician who has been practicing medicine in Sacramento since 1989, Dr. David Evans is a board-certified otolaryngologist who treats the spectrum of disorders relating to the ear, nose and throat. Dr. Evans specializes in the treatment of adult and pediatric otolaryngology. These include tonsil and adenoid problems, ear problems, sinus and nasal problems, snoring and sleep apnea.Dr. Evans is an experienced teacher, having made numerous presentations to local physicians on important clinical updates in otolaryngology. He also has participated in extensive clinical research in otolaryngology; some of the results of his research were published in national otolaryngology journals. In addition, Dr. Evans currently serves as Medical Director for Pediatric Otolaryngology at Sutter Children's Center, Sacramento. He has also served previously as Chairman of the Department of Surgery at Sutter Medical Center Sacramento and as President of the Sacramento Society of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. He donates his time to the Sutter Cleft Palate and Craniofacial Anomalies Panel.Dr. Evans received his medical degree from University of Michigan Medical School, where he graduated with distinction. He then went on to complete his residency in Otolaryngology at University of Michigan Hospitals, where he served as Chief Resident.Dr. Evans is a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He has received advanced training in office-based and intraoperative ultrasonography and uses this technology routinely for characterizing and diagnosing head and neck tumors, performing fine-needle aspiration (FNA) biopsies and performing targeted parathyroid surgery.A California native, Dr. Groppo grew up in Sunnyvale and attended the University of California, San Diego where he completed his undergraduate degree in Bioengineering. Prior to going into medicine, he worked as a Development Engineer and helped to develop medical devices at UC San Diego and at the NASA Ames Research Center. Dr. Groppo subsequently received his medical training at The George Washington University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C. He then returned to California where he completed his residency in Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco. His research has been published in national and international peer-reviewed journals, and he has presented at national meetings around the country.Dr. Groppo has served in various leadership positions at Sacramento area hospitals and physician associations. He is currently the Chief of Surgery at Mercy General Hospital and the Chief of Otolaryngology with Hill Physicians. He serves as clinical faculty for the Dignity Family Medicine Residency Program. He volunteers his time and expertise by providing charity care for medically indigent patients through the Sierra Sacramento Valley Medical Society SPIRIT program.In his free time, Dr. Groppo enjoys spending time with his family. He enjoys golfing, hiking, camping and skiing. He is an avid San Francisco Giants baseball fan and loves to travel.
