Overview

Roger Blauvelt, MD, is an orthopedic specialist that deals largely with conditions of the hand and upper extremity. He has a passion for finding the best solution for each patient’s unique condition and the best course of treatment for that individual. While that can be surgery, it is most often other methods.

Common conditions treated are carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger finger, tendonitis, wrist injuries, hand arthritis, fractures, tendon/nerve injuries, and Dupuytren’s contracture.

He has a special interest in the care and recovery of injured workers and understands the workmen’s compensation system in Washington can be challenging. Treating injured workers requires medical knowledge, as well as knowledge of the systems and other issues in play. The goal is a safe and timely recovery and return to productive function.

Dr. Blauvelt received his medical degree at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Nashville, TN, before completing his 5-year orthopedic training at Texas Tech University, Lubbock, TX. Dr. Blauvelt then participated in an additional year of subspecialty fellowship training in Surgery of the Hand and Upper Extremity at University of California Medical Center, Davis in Sacramento, CA. Following a traveling international fellowship of 18 months duration he began practice in Western Washington in 1997.

Outside of work, he enjoys the outdoors, scuba diving, pottery, woodworking, home improvement, movies, traveling, and spending time with his family.

Dr. Blauvelt is rated as an Experienced provider by MediFind in the treatment of Trigger Thumb. His top areas of expertise are Dupuytren Contracture, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Trigger Thumb, and Tendinitis.

With a clinical practice that spans the range of upper extremity pathology, Todd M. Guyette, MD, has advanced training and interest in the newest techniques for hand and upper extremity pathology. Surgery remains only one pillar of treatment, and many of these diagnoses can be successfully managed without surgery through a coordinated approach that includes therapy, medications, and patient education.Dr. Guyette's clinical focus is on the surgical and nonsurgical treatment of complex hand and wrist trauma, nerve compression syndromes of the upper extremity with minimally invasive endoscopic techniques, wrist and digit arthroscopy, arthritis of the hand and wrist, Dupuytren's contracture, as well as skin and soft tissue problems. His years in practice has solidified his patient philosophy that the localized problems of the upper extremity affect the whole patient, including their work, recreational activities, and even simple daily tasks. He believes that each patient's treatment must be undertaken with an understanding of that context. Dr. Guyette lives on the Eastside with his wife and two daughters. Dr. Guyette is rated as a Distinguished provider by MediFind in the treatment of Trigger Thumb. His top areas of expertise are Synovitis, Dupuytren Contracture, Trigger Thumb, Wrist Arthroscopy, and Trapeziectomy.
