Dr. Benak opened his surgical practice in Walton County in 2000. Dedicated to his profession, Dr. Benak has served as Chief of Staff, Chief of Surgery, Trauma Medical Director, and member of the Medical Executive Committee. Dr Benak is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Benak is married and lives with his wife in Good Hope, GA. In his spare time, he enjoys paddle boarding, wake surfing, hiking, biking, camping, and boating.

He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia in biochemistry and is board certified in general surgery. Dr. Mims has previously worked as a clinical instructor of surgery at Emory University, and was also an associate examiner for The American Board of Surgery.
