Overview
A specialist in physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R physician) is also called a physiatrist. Dr. Lanoff's specialization is in sports medicine, outpatient musculoskeletal medicine and pain medicine. His specific focus is on decreasing his patients’ symptoms while allowing them to maximize their function and return to a full and rewarding life without surgery. He does not want to simply manage my patients’ pain; the mutual goal should be to make every attempt possible to alleviate their pain from a conservative care or non-operative perspective and do so as naturally as possible. Limiting the use of medications that mask a patient’s pain and providing efficient and accurate care is the mutual goal. While Dr. Lanoff understands that surgery is often unavoidable, he strives to maximize conservative care up to that point. Allowing a patient to be active in their care and to be able to spend their time away from physicians and other healthcare treaters is always a priority in the treatment partnership.
