Philosophy of care | My philosophy is founded on empathy, comprehensive treatment and personalization. I emphasize education, enabling informed decisions and strong doctor/patient relationships. My practice spans urological issues for men and women, from sexual health to incontinence. Each treatment plan is customized to the individual. Collaboration is key and fosters a multidisciplinary strategy that enhances care quality and treatment scope. I am committed to the highest standard of urological care, ensuring you feel valued and receive effective and respectful treatments. | Why I entered medicine | My path to medicine, urology in particular, drew me in with its unique blend of patient care in the office and the technical challenge of surgeries. I get to form meaningful connections with my patients, guiding them from the first consultation to recovery post-surgery. The mix of engaging directly with patients, performing delicate surgeries and staying abreast of the latest medical advancements keeps me invested in the community and inspired. | Community involvement | I am committed to the health and well-being of our community, and actively engage in outreach initiatives. I believe health care extends beyond the clinic and hospital walls and plays a vital role in community development and support. I focus especially on educational programs related to raising awareness about urological health. A major aspect is highlighting the significance of early screenings and proactive health measures. | Personal interests | I live in Northeast Pennsylvania with my life partner and close to my children. I cherish our community and its beauty. Spring and summer are for hiking and enjoying the lush landscapes, while fall offers breathtaking foliage perfect for scenic drives. Winter transforms the area into a picturesque setting for skiing and snow sports. I take pleasure in fishing and boating in the lakes and rivers of upstate New York during warmer months and snowshoeing or relaxing with a good book when it snows. Outdoor pursuits provide a much-needed balance to my professional life, offering both physical and mental rejuvenation and keeping me connected to the beauty of our region. Philosophy of care | I strongly believe in patient-centered care that involves the entire health care team and assesses all facets of well-being, including the physical, psychological, emotional and social aspects. I listen carefully to your unique story as a way to achieve your best medical outcome. | Why I entered medicine | At age 10, I observed my father’s physical decline following a critical cardiac event at age 40. I recognized the need for research into novel and promising treatments, and the vital importance of patients and family members establishing a trusting relationship with their medical team. At a time of profound fear and uncertainty for both my father and his family, I learned the significance of compassionate and empathic care, and I strive to provide this to my own patients in memory of him. | Community involvement | I have helped educate medical, physician assistant and nurse practitioner students and found it to be extremely rewarding. I served as a medical school faculty member for 12 years, and have been involved in community outreach and education through local schools and businesses regarding a variety of medical topics and health-promoting campaigns. I have served as a board member for Easter Seals and for a variety of organizations involved in the education of autistic children. I have supported and donated time to homeless shelters and worked with members of domestic abuse. I support animal shelters, and I have personally adopted numerous special needs animals. | Personal interests | My personal interests include working with animal shelters and emergency facilities to assist in fostering/adoption of special needs animals. I like personal fitness, including distance running and indoor cycling. I enjoy community and school-based activities with my twin daughters, and am interested in Victorian-era architecture and collectibles. What is the definition of Urinary Tract Infection (UTI)?

A urinary tract infection, or UTI, is an infection of the urinary tract. The infection can occur at different points in the urinary tract, including the:

      • Bladder -- An infection in the bladder is also called cystitis or a bladder infection.
      • Kidneys -- An infection of one or both kidneys is called pyelonephritis or a kidney infection.
      • Ureters -- The tubes that take urine from each kidney to the bladder are rarely the only site of infection.
      • Urethra -- An infection of the tube that empties urine from the bladder to the outside is called urethritis.

When should I see a Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) doctor near Scranton, PA?

There are various reasons why you may want to see a specialist, such as:

      • Your primary care provider recommends it.
      • Your condition requires expert knowledge and specialized care.
      • Your symptoms persist or worsen despite treatment.
      • You need specialized testing or procedures.
      • You want a second opinion.

What should I consider when choosing a Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) doctor near Scranton, PA?

It’s important to see a provider with expertise in your specific condition. Each provider profile in MediFind’s doctor database includes information on which conditions they treat, years of experience, research contributions, languages spoken, insurance plans accepted, and more.

How does MediFind rank Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) doctors near Scranton, PA?

MediFind’s rankings are based on a variety of data sources, such as the number of articles a doctor has published in medical journals, participation in clinical trials and industry conferences, as well as the number of patients that provider sees for a given condition. Note that MediFind’s provider database is not based on user reviews, and providers do not pay to be included in the database.

What types of insurance are accepted by Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) doctors near Scranton, PA?

Most profiles in MediFind’s doctor database include a list of insurance plans accepted by that provider. However, it’s a good idea to contact the provider’s office to make sure they still accept your insurance, then doublecheck by contacting your insurance plan to confirm they’re in network.

How can I book an appointment online with a Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) doctor near Scranton, PA?

MediFind offers direct scheduling for certain providers using the “Request Appointment” button on that provider’s profile. If the schedule option is not available for a provider, tap the red “Show Phone Number” button on their profile to get their contact information. If you prefer to find providers who offer online scheduling, select “Schedules online” under the “Availability” category of the filter feature on the left side of the Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) doctor search results page.

Why is it important to get a second opinion from a different Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) doctor?

Second opinions are an opportunity to confirm a diagnosis and its root cause, learn about alternative treatment options, or simply gain peace of mind. Many people, especially those with serious diagnoses, get second opinions so they can understand all their options and make informed decisions, so don’t hesitate to get one if you have any doubts or need more information or clarification regarding your care. Note that some insurance plans require second opinions, while others don’t cover second opinions, so be sure to confirm with your insurance provider first.

How can I prepare for my appointment with a Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) doctor near Scranton, PA?

Prepare for your appointment by gathering the following items:

      • Copies of medical records (dating back at least one year)
      • Your medical history, including illnesses, medical conditions, surgeries, and other doctors you see
      • Family history of disease
      • List of current prescription drugs, over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal remedies or supplements including names and doses
      • Allergies to medications, food, latex, insects, etc.
      • List of questions and concerns
      • Your insurance card

You might also contact the provider’s office to see if they offer transportation or childcare services or if you’re allowed to bring a loved one for support or to take notes during your visit.

What questions should I ask my Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) doctor?

      Here are some sample questions:

      • Can you explain in simple terms what this condition is and how it’s treated?
      • What symptoms or side effects should I watch for?
      • What tests will be involved, and when can I expect results?
      • Are there other specialists I need to see?
      • What’s the best way to reach you if I have follow-up questions?

How can I learn about the latest clinical trials and research advances my Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) doctor may know about?

MediFind’s Clinical Trials tool asks you a series of questions to help you narrow down your search by health condition, age, gender, location, how far you’re willing to travel, and more. Each question you answer filters down the number of trials until you find the ones that are most relevant to you.

MediFind’s Latest Advances tool features summaries of recent articles published in medical journals. We use cutting-edge technology to scour medical publication databases for the latest research advancements on any given condition, then we simplify this information in a way that’s useful and easy to understand.

Can I filter my search to show male or female Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) doctors near Scranton, PA?

Look for the filter feature on the left side of the Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) doctor search results page. Select “Female” or “Male” under the “Gender” category to search for female or male providers exclusively. If the “Any” option is selected, it will pull results for both male and female providers.

Can I filter my search to find a Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) doctor that offers video calls?

Look for the filter feature on the left-side of the Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) doctor search results page. Select “Offers telehealth visits” under the Availability category to search for providers who offer virtual appointments (video calls).
