Dr. Joan E. Hader

Dr. Gilchrist was selected by her peers as an Atlanta Top Doctor in 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Iowa State University and a Doctor of Medicine degree from Emory University School of Medicine. She is a recipient of the coveted Fulbright Scholarship. In 2000, she also completed her Masters in Public Health at Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health.Dr. Lowman has been practicing medicine for 18 years. She is the only African American graduate of the esteemed Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship program at Indiana University Purdue Institute. Dr. Lowman has won awards for outstanding research in the field of Urogynecology and presented her research nationally and in South Africa. She moved back to Atlanta to start the Urogynecology department for Kaiser Permanente in 2008 and lead that department for 10 years.In her spare time, Dr. Lowman enjoys spending time with her family and her Labrador retriever.
