Dr. Ahmed Elkhanany specializes in the care of patients with breast cancer. He is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Lester and Sue Smith Breast Center at Baylor College of Medicine, where he is also a member of the Breast Cancer Prevention and High-Risk Clinic.Dr. Elkhanany’s clinical interests include breast cancer prevention and metastatic breast cancer. His research interests include: translational breast cancer genomics and impact of race and ethnicity on gene drivers of breast cancer. He is also involved with projects that translate lab-based findings to bedside novel treatment combinations in the hope of improving patient lives and finding novel, less toxic cures.Dr. Elkhanany received his medical degree from the Alexandria University School of Medicine in Egypt. He completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of Missouri-Kansas City and a fellowship in hematology and oncology at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center in Buffalo, New York. He also completed a post-doctoral felllowship in Triple Negative Breast Cancer at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.A member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology Dr. Elkhanany is board certified in internal medicine, hematology, and oncology. He is also the recipient of several teaching awards at the University of Alabama (UAB) at Birmingham, where he was previously Assistant Professor in the Department of Breast Oncology at UAB Medicine.In addition to English, Dr. Elkhanany speaks Arabic.
