
Overview
Dr. Jesus Angelberto Munoz earned his medical degree at the National Autonomous University of Mexico in Mexico City, and received his Master of Public Health from the University of Texas Health Sciences Center at Houston (UTHealth) School of Public Health in Houston. He completed his pediatrics residency at Driscoll Children’s Hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas, as part of the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) at Galveston’s residency program. Dr. Munoz completed further training with a fellowship in muscle disorders in children at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, , and a fellowship in neonatology at the Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, Penn. Specializing in neonatal medicine and perinatal medicine, Dr. Munoz cares for newborn patients up to three months of age. Patients and families enjoy Dr. Munoz’s comprehensive and compassionate care delivered in a warm and friendly environment. He uses evidence-based medicine to help improve patient outcomes. Dr. Munoz has been instrumental in the development of neonatal care in northeast Houston. As the first neonatologist in the Lake Houston area, Dr. Munoz established a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital. He also trained the nurses who staff the NICU, which has cared for more than 40,000 newborns since opening. Throughout his career, Dr. Munoz has served in multiple leadership positions. Currently, he is the director of neonatology at Memorial Hermann Northeast and is a member of numerous Memorial Hermann committees. In the past, he has served in the elected position of chairman of both the OB/GYN and Pediatrics Committee and Bioethics Committee. In addition, he served as chief of staff at Memorial Hermann Northeast and was named as the hospital’s 2007 Physician of the Year. He is a published author in The Journal of Pediatrics and is a member of numerous medical associations. Dr. Munoz has also been recognized in over 100 articles in local, business and medical publications.
