
Overview
Anil Darbari, MBBS, MD, MBA, is the Director of Comprehensive Gastrointestinal (GI) Motility Center and a member of the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at Children’s National Hospital. He is also a Professor of Pediatrics at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. Dr. Darbari leads his team of pediatric GI motility experts, advanced practice providers and other allied staff. The goal of his team is to enhance the care of children living with complex GI problems related to the GI function and motility as a result of impaired function of the nerves and muscles of the GI tract. These conditions often present with gastroesophageal reflux, difficulty in swallowing or dysphagia, achalasia, gastroparesis, cyclic vomiting syndrome, rumination syndrome, chronic/refractory constipation and pelvic floor/outlet dysfunction. He has developed and led multidisciplinary programs. He collaborates with several programs, such as Colorectal and General Surgery, Cardiology, Genetics, Pulmonology, Behavioral Psychology and Pain Medicine in the areas of GI motility disorders, functional GI disorders, postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS), cystic fibrosis, autism, genetic and metabolic disorders. Dr. Darbari received his medical degree and post-doctoral training in Pediatrics in India. He completed a pediatric residency at MetroHealth Medical Center/Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, OH and a fellowship in pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition at the Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, MD. He received an MBA with a focus on healthcare from the Johns Hopkins University Carey School of Business. He remained as faculty at Johns Hopkins where he initiated and led the pediatric GI motility program and served as the medical director of the pediatric feeding disorders program at the affiliated Kennedy Krieger Institute. As an expert in neurogastroenterology and GI motility, he has contributed to the field through service and education. He has enhanced the education of pediatric gastroenterologists nationally and internationally through hands-on workshops and courses. Dr. Darbari has served on leadership positions in many organizations, including the Chair of Neurogastroenterology and GI Motility committee of the North American Society of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (NASPGHAN). He has contributed to the field by publishing scientific articles and textbook chapters as well as training next generation of physicians.
His clinical expertise encompasses Hirschsprung Disease, Pneumomediastinum, Median Arcuate Ligament Syndrome (MALS), Adrenal Insufficiency Pediatric, and Colonoscopy.

Dr. Wikrom Karnsakul is an associate professor of pediatrics at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. His clinical interests are in the care of pediatric liver diseases, and general gastrointestinal diseases. Dr. Karnsakul received his medical degree in 1992 from Faculty of Medicine, Siriraj Medical Center, Mahidol University School of Medicine in Bangkok, Thailand. He completed his residency in pediatrics at Advocate Hope Children's Hospital in 1998 and did a fellowship in pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition at Texas Children's Hospital, Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. He completed his postdoctoral research training at USDA/ARS Children's Nutrition Research Center, Baylor College of Medicine. He joined the faculty at Johns Hopkins in 2008. His research interests center on the understanding and treatment of chronic liver disease, ascites, cholestasis, viral hepatitis especially hepatitis C and hepatitis E, and Cystic Fibrosis Related Liver Disease. Dr. Karnsakul is also involved in NIH-funded multicenter research studies including the Cholestatic Liver Disease Consortium and Cystic Fibrosis Related Liver Disease Project. Dr. Karnsakul is currently a Fellow of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (FAASLD). Dr. Karnsakul is highly rated in 10 conditions, according to our data.
