Bernadette J. Goudreau, MD, MSc, is a fellowship-trained vascular surgeon at MUSC Health in Columbia, SC. Originally from the Midwest, Dr. Goudreau graduated from the University of Notre Dame before pursuing advanced studies at the University of Kansas, where she completed the Post Baccalaureate Research Education Program (PREP) and worked as a graduate research assistant in the Department of Molecular Biosciences. She earned her medical degree from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA, where she also completed her residency in general surgery.During her surgical training, Dr. Goudreau conducted two years of research in immunology and immunotherapy as part of a National Institutes of Health training grant. She also earned a Master of Science in Clinical Research from the University of Virginia's Department of Public Health Sciences. In her chief year, Dr. Goudreau was honored with the Jameson L. Chassin, MD, FACS Award for Professionalism in General Surgery by the American College of Surgeons.Before joining the vascular team at MUSC, Dr. Goudreau trained as a Homans Fellow in Vascular and Endovascular Surgery at Brigham and Women's Hospital, a teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School, in Boston, MA. During her fellowship, she was actively involved in vascular surgery clinical research and completed advanced training in patient safety and quality through Harvard Medical School.Dr. Goudreau is dedicated to providing comprehensive, evidence-based care tailored to each patient's unique needs. With expertise in both minimally invasive endovascular techniques and traditional open vascular surgery, she treats a wide range of vascular conditions, including carotid disease, aortic disease, peripheral arterial disease (PAD), hemodialysis access needs, and venous diseases. Dr. Goudreau is committed to advancing the field of vascular surgery through continuous learning and the implementation of new knowledge to improve patient outcomes.
