Overview
Carlene Parker, PA-C, is a board-certified physician assistant in the neurosurgery service at Valley Medical Center. She has practiced in the neurocritical care field providing care to patients with disorders of the nervous system including acute ischemic stroke, brain hemorrhages, seizures, traumatic brain and spinal injuries, and complications related to brain tumors. In addition to managing primary neurologic disorders, she is experienced in balancing this with patients’ other medical problems to provide holistic care. Throughout her career, Carlene has been passionate about providing comprehensive, patient-centered care. She strives to include patients and families in the decision-making process throughout their course of treatment. It is important to her that patients understand their medical condition as well as all the treatment options that they have. Carlene received her medical training from East Carolina University in Greenville, NC. There she received undergraduate degrees in both biology and neuroscience. She continued her studies and received her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies. While pursuing those degrees, she served her community as an EMT and firefighter, conducted undergraduate research with a focus on spinal cord injury, and worked as a tutor for her peers. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, gardening, traveling, and mountaineering.
