Christopher J. DiMaio, MD is a member of Northwell Health Physician Partners Gastroenterology and is the Regional Director of Endoscopy.He is an interventional endoscopist and a nationally recognized expert in the care of patients with complex pancreatic and biliary diseases, pre-cancerous and cancerous lesions of the gastrointestinal tract, Barrett's esophagus, complex colon polyps, benign and malignant obstruction of the gastrointestinal tract, and post-operative complications such as fistulas, leaks, and strictures. A significant portion of his practice is dedicated to the management of benign and malignant pancreatic disease, including pancreatitis, pancreatic cancers and cysts, and pancreatic fluid collections/pseudocysts/necrosis.Dr. DiMaio is a frequent speaker at national and regional GI meetings, has more than 100 scientific publications in high-impact journals, and has served on numerous committees for the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE). He is a Past President of the New York Society for Gastroenterology and Endoscopy (NYSGE). Prior to joining Northwell, Dr. DiMaio served in a number of leadership positions with Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, Mount Sinai Hospital, and Catholic Health.

While there, Dr. Shen established a subspecialty Pouchitis Clinic and Interventional IBD Unite - the first and largest of its kind in the United States. He also created an IBD Board, modeled after oncology tumor boards, to help manage the most challenging cases with multiple specialists.A prolific researcher in the field with more than 600 peer-reviewed articles, Dr. Shen is funded by a number of government and philanthropic organizations, including the NIH, the American Gastroenterological Association, American College of Gastroenterology, the Broad Foundation, and the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America.
