Christopher Lawlor, MD, is an Atlantic Medical Group physician and the Division Chief of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology for the Valerie Fund Children’s Center. Board-certified in pediatrics and pediatric hematology/oncology by the American Board of Pediatrics, and fellowship-trained in pediatric hematology and oncology, he specializes in blood disorders and cancers in children, adolescents, and young adults, treating children of all ages with benign and malignant disease.Dr. Lawlor has spent over 25 years dedicated to children and helping them overcome serious illness so that they can grow into healthy adults. Prior to coming to Atlantic Medical Group, he served as the medical director for Pediatric Specialists of Virginia Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders and was affiliated with prestigious Children’s National Hospital in the Washington, DC, area. In his accomplished career he has managed the unique needs of infants, children, adolescents, and young adults while employing the latest innovations and breakthroughs to help children with cancer and blood disorders. From diagnosis through recovery, Dr. Lawlor provides family- and child-centered care, ensuring that patients and families receive the supportive services necessary to help them through a critical illness. In addition, he is committed to long-term follow-up care, promoting ongoing health and wellness for pediatric cancer survivors. Dr. Lawlor has collaborated on research in pediatric cancer treatment, authored book chapters, and presented nationally and internationally on many aspects of pediatric hematology and oncology. He is a member of the Children’s Oncology Group and the Histiocyte Society.After earning his medical degree from New York Medical College, Dr. Lawlor completed both his residency and a fellowship in pediatric hematology and oncology at Children’s National Medical Center, Washington, DC, one of the top five children’s hospitals in the nation. He has been listed as a top doctor by the Washingtonian and Northern Virginia Magazine. Dr. Lawlor is a participating provider of the Atlantic Accountable Care Organization.
