
Overview
Dr. Clark specializes in colon and rectal surgery with unique skills in advanced care for inflammatory bowel disease, colon and rectal cancer, colonic polyposis syndromes, anal cancer and complex benign anorectal disorders. He uses advanced technology such as high-resolution anoscopy, minimally invasive technology with fluorescence angiography, pelvic floor studies and endorectal ultrasound to help identify, diagnose and treat colorectal disease in a more precise way. Some of these unique clinical treatment strategies enable him to proactively treat low acuity colon and rectal issues in the clinic before they become big surgical cases. Dr. Clark earned his BA in Biology from the University of Pennsylvania; he went on to Penn State University, College of Medicine where he earned his Medical Doctorate. He did an Internship and Residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio. He completed a Fellowship in Colon and Rectal Surgery at Christus Santa Rosa Colon and Rectal Surgery Program in San Antonio.His past academic appointments include Assistant Professor of Surgery at Texas A&M Health Science Center/Baylor, Scott & White Memorial Hospital and Associate Professor of Surgery at Morehouse School of Medicine were he also served as Vice Chair of Surgical Education and Program Director for the General Surgery Residency program. In addition he has given back to our Military community by serving in Department of Surgery at the Central Texas Veterans Health Care System.He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery. Dr. Clark is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a Fellow of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, a member of the Association of Academic Surgeons and served as an executive board member of the Association of Program Directors in Surgery. Dr. Clark has published many peer-reviewed and book chapters on the topics such as hemorrhoid surgery, robotic surgery for resident training, techniques in advanced coloproctology for fistulizing anorectal disease, colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, and single incision laparoscopic colectomy among others.Dr. Clark's care philosophy is to treat every patient like they are a family member. I strive to deliver a high-standard of care; I treat my patients like I would treat my family. I make decisions with the patient and base them on medically-proven therapies. I offer my patients access to advanced technology to reduce risk, improve outcomes and minimize complications.
