Dr. Evonne Morell

Evonne M. Morell, DO, is director of Inpatient General Pediatric Cardiology Services and director of Quality Improvement for General Cardiology at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. She is also an assistant professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Cardiology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. She is board-certified in pediatrics and pediatric cardiology.Dr. Morell earned her medical degree from West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine. She then completed a pediatric residency via the Fast-Track Program at Michigan State University, followed by a pediatric cardiology fellowship at UPMC Children’s Hospital. She served as chief pediatric cardiology fellow in her final year of this fellowship program. She then furthered her training through a one-year Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care fellowship at UPMC Children’s.Dr. Morell’s career has focused on acute care cardiology and complex congenital heart diseases including single-ventricle physiology. Since her appointment as an assistant professor of Pediatrics in 2011, Dr. Morell has transformed the inpatient general cardiology service at Children’s. She sought advanced training in quality improvement methodology, helped to develop a general cardiology quality improvement program at Children’s, and established herself as a local and national leader in quality improvement. Her current research focus is on quality improvement with projects focused on improving patient care in the acute care and outpatient settings.She is a member of the American Heart Association, the Pennsylvania Chapter of Osteopathic Physicians-District VIII, the Pediatric Acute Cardiology Care Collaborative, and the PAC3 Quality Improvement Subcommittee, as well as an executive member of the Pediatric Acute Cardiology Care Collaborative.View the full list of Dr. Morell’s publications on PubMed.

Her clinical expertise encompasses Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS), Mitral Atresia, Gastroesophageal Reflux in Infants, and Pulmonary Atresia with Ventricular Septal Defect.

Dr. Morell is board certified in American Board Of Pediatrics and American Board Of Pediatrics. She is actively involved in clinical research, co-authoring 8 peer reviewed articles. Dr. Morell is currently accepting new patients.
