
Overview
Flordeliza Villanueva, MD, is a cardiologist and is certified in cardiovascular disease and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine. She is the director of non-invasive cardiac imaging at the UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute and is a professor of medicine and associate chief of cardiology for translational research in the Department of Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. She is also director of the Center for Molecular Imaging and Image-Guided Therapeutics and director of the T32 Training Program in Imaging Sciences in Translational Cardiovascular Research at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Villanueva joined the UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute in 1992. Her clinical interests include non-invasive cardiac imaging, such as echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, and cardiac magnetic resonance. Dr. Villanueva has an extensive publication list and is frequently invited to speak at national and international conferences. She is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC), a fellow and Established Investigator of the American Heart Association, an elected member of the American Society for Clinical Investigation and Association of University Cardiologists, and a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and American Society of Echocardiography. She is also an NIH-funded researcher investigating ultrasound-mediated therapies. Dr. Villanueva lives in Pittsburgh with her husband, two children, and parents.
