Dr. Martin is a graduate of Texas A & M University and received his medical degree from Texas A & M College of Medicine. He completed his neurological training at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas and at Parkland Hospital where he served as Chief Resident in Neurology from 1987 to 1988. Dr. Martin completed his neuro-muscular fellowship at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. In 1989, he began private practice at Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas. Dr. Martin is the Clinical Director of the Neuromuscular Center at The Institute for Exercise and Environmental Medicine at Presbyterian Hospital, Dallas, Texas. Dr. Heitzman completed his medical degree at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. He finished his neurology training at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas from 1990-1993, serving as Chief Resident from 1992-1993. He completed a fellowship in EMG, neuromuscular disease and neurophysiology at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio from 1993-1994. He currently holds positions at Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas and the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. Dr. Heitzman is a Fellow with the American Academy of Neurology. Dr. Heitzman practices general neurology, but has particular interests in ALS, peripheral nerve and muscle problems, EMG and the use of botulinum toxins (cervical dystonia, hemifacial spasm, blepharospasm, sialorrhea and spasticity). He is director of the ALS / Motor Neuron Disorder Clinic at Texas Neurology sponsored by the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). Salman Bhai, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurology at UT Southwestern Medical Center and the Director of the Neuromuscular Center in the Institute of Exercise and Environmental Medicine at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas. He specializes in neuromuscular disorders, particularly muscle disorders.Dr. Bhai earned his medical degree at Harvard University. He completed a residency in neurology at Brigham and Women's Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital, where he also received advanced training through a fellowship in neuromuscular medicine and earned a medical education certificate.Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine, he joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2021. He is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, the American Academy of Neuromuscular & Electrodiagnostic Medicine, the Dallas County Medical Society, and the Texas Neurological Society.Dr. Bhai's clinical interests include the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of neuromuscular disorders. He focuses on patients with inflammatory and metabolic myopathies as well as those with immune checkpoint inhibitor complications.Dr. Bhai's research focuses on understanding how muscles communicate with other organ systems, particularly when muscle is inflamed, such as in myositis. The goal of his research is to better understand, diagnose, and treat patients with myositis through exercise and muscle physiology studies as well as through clinical trials. Among other work, he serves as the Principal Investigator for four clinical trials related to inflammatory and metabolic myopathies. Dr. Bhai is highly rated in 21 conditions, according to our data.
