
Overview
Dr. Harish Rudra is a pediatric and fetal cardiologist who serves as Director of the Interstage and High Risk Single Ventricle Program and Director of the Ambulatory Outpatient Echocardiography Laboratory at Inova L.J. Murphy Children's Hospital. He joined Inova Health System in 2009 after completing his pediatric cardiology fellowship training at the Anne and Robert Lurie Children's Hospital in Chicago. Dr. Rudra's clinical and research interests include the diagnosis and longitudinal follow up of children with congenital and acquired heart disease. His particular area of expertise is the application of echocardiography (transthoracic, transesophageal and fetal) in the diagnosis and management of congenital heart disease. He also has special interest in prenatal diagnosis and detection of congenital heart disease and improvement of interstage and long-term outcomes in patients with complex single ventricle heart defects such as hypoplastic left heart syndrome. He has served as the medical director of the Interstage and High Risk Single Ventricle Program at Inova L.J. Murphy Children's Hospital since 2013. He enjoys teaching and mentoring residents as well as medical and premedical students. Dr. Rudra's approach is to provide caring and compassionate care with the aim of ensuring that children and their families have a full understanding of their child’s diagnosis and treatment plan. Dr. Rudra has lectured at numerous local and regional meetings and has published in peer-reviewed journals. He has published on the long-term outcomes of patients with d-Transposition of the Great Arteries. He is the principal investigator for Inova's site participation in the National Pediatric Cardiology Quality Improvement Collaborative. He has also served as the President of the Northern Virginia Pediatric Society.
