Overview
I became interested in diagnosing children in medical school. It's a challenge when they can't tell you what's wrong. I joined Nemours after many years of inpatient pediatrics in the United States and abroad. I appreciate that we are an academic center, where evidence-based medicine is the norm and families are respected members of the care team. I enjoy the challenge of treating children versus adults. Best of all is the feeling you get when a hospitalized child is healthy enough to leave the unit and go home. One of my jobs is helping newborns whose mothers used drugs during pregnancy. It is very rewarding to see them safely recovering through the difficult withdrawal period. My special interests include childhood asthma and neonatal withdrawal syndrome. Babies born with this condition require special care. We're learning more all the time about how best to help them. One of my priorities is open, helpful interaction with families. I try to communicate clearly, address all of their concerns, and use layman's language to explain things in a way that makes sense. I stay away from a lot of medical terms that can be confusing or intimidating.

Nemours Children's Health, Seaford
I’m a primary care pediatrician at Nemours Pediatrics in Seaford, Delaware and I love what I do. I enjoy helping people feel better, and watching my patients grow up healthy and happy. You could say it runs in the family, because I’m married to a family practitioner, and we have three wonderful children of our own. I love treating kids! I am continuously amazed by their resiliency. Even in my medical training, I always felt connected to the children I cared for – and their parents – so I chose pediatrics as my medical career. I get tremendous personal satisfaction from helping ill children get better. One of my proudest moments was when a newborn I had resuscitated came in to the office for the first time for a routine wellness checkup. Every time I see my patients persevere in school or participate in an extra-curricular activity, I know I’m making a difference. Dr. Anthony is highly rated in 7 conditions, according to our data.
