Dr. Hossein Asghari specializes in surgical and medical management of complex corneal and cataract-related problems. He performs full thickness and partial thickness corneal transplant surgeries; amniotic membrane transplants for management of anterior segment disorders, such as ulcers or nonhealing defects; and cataract surgeries including those requiring special techniques, such as iris repair or lens suturing. In addition, Dr. Asghari treats diseases of the ocular surface caused by conditions such as GVHD and Steven Johnson's syndrome. He also treats ocular injuries caused by chemical burns or trauma, lacerations, abrasions or foreign bodies, corneal ulcers and infections, corneal scarring, pterygium and conjunctival cysts. His research interest is developing less invasive approaches to treating corneal disorders or cataracts. Dr. Asghari is an assistant professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at Saint Louis University School of Medicine.
