Overview
I am a physical medicine and rehabilitation physician who trained in an ACGME-accredited pain fellowship and specializes in pain management. I treat a variety of acute and chronic conditions including: back and neck pain, musculoskeletal pain, sacroiliac joint dysfunction, sports injuries, neuromuscular pain, cancer pain, chronic abdominal and pelvic pain, fibromyalgia, chronic pain syndrome, complex regional pain syndrome, neuropathic pain, headache, and many others. I believe in treating patients from a multidisciplinary approach including health psychology, rehabilitative therapies, alternative therapies, interventional procedures, and medications, with the goal of improving function. I believe the best outcomes occur when patients practice self-care and take ownership of their health with proper support from their health care team. I am medical director of the inpatient pain service at Regions Hospital and have special interest in preparing people for managing their pain at the time of surgery through our pre-operative pain consult service. Due to my hospital responsibilities I have less availability at my outpatient clinic. I perform a variety of minimally invasive interventional procedures for back, neck, and joint pain. I do not start patients on opioid medications for chronic non-cancer pain, and only prescribe them to help with tapering off of them.
