I was initially drawn to medicine because it was an opportunity to use my love of science to do something that helped people in an immediate and tangible way. After 25 years in practice, I continue to find joy and fulfillment in medicine because of the opportunity to connect and communicate with other people in a meaningful way.What I want my patients to know about me:I think my strength in medicine is communication. I believe and act on the old saying that 80% of diagnosis is in listening to the patient's story. I also value finding ways to communicate complex and technical information in a way that is understandable and useful to the individual patient.What I do when I'm not seeing patients:My interests are wide and diverse. They include reading, hiking, woodworking, gardening, traveling and more. My faith and church are central to my life. Also of great value to me is time spent with our adult children, our parents and the rest of our family.
