Dr. Joel M. Bumol

Dr. Bumol is the Program Director for the family medicine residency and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family and Social Medicine at Montefiore Medical Center and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. His areas of interest include medical education, office based buprenorphine maintenance therapy, diabetes group visits, and social medicine. Within the family and social medicine residency program, Dr. Bumol has served as a team leader for residents at Williamsbridge Family Practice and the faculty advisor for the residency's homeless health track. Dr. Bumol is a member of the Montefiore Buprenorphine Treatment Network and provides buprenorphine maintenance therapy in his practice. He is also regularly involved in medical student and resident education in both inpatient and outpatient clinical settings. Dr. Bumol graduated from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 2011 and completed his residency training in family and social medicine at Montefiore Medical Center in 2014 where he served as chief resident upon completion of residency. He is board certified in family medicine through the American Board of Family Medicine.

His clinical expertise encompasses Type 2 Diabetes (T2D), Familial Hypertension, Hypertension, and Glucocorticoid-Remediable Aldosteronism.

He is actively involved in clinical research, co-authoring 4 peer reviewed articles.
