
Overview
Dr. John Goosey earned his undergraduate degree at the University of South Carolina and his medical degree at the Medical University of South Carolina. He completed a fellowship at the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, Maryland, where he studied cataract formation and medical treatment for the eyes. He completed a second residency in ophthalmology at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth in Houston and an additional fellowship at Louisiana State University Eye Center, where he received sub-specialty training in corneal and external eye disease. Dr. Goosey, who is board certified in ophthalmology, has been practicing for nearly four decades. He is an internationally known and respected leader in corneal and refractive eye surgery, a pioneer in the use of lasers for the correction of nearsightedness (myopia), farsightedness (hyperopia) and astigmatism. Dr. Goosey performs Lasik, cataract surgery, and corneal transplants using advanced laser technologies. He offers free Lasik consultations. Dr. Goosey has served as a clinical assistant professor at McGovern Medical School and as an adjunct professor in the College of Optometry of the University of Houston. He has been named one of The Best Doctors in Houston by Inside Houston magazine and one of America’s Top Ophthalmologists. He also received the Super Doctors award for 10 consecutive years.
