
Overview
John Hunter DPM, MS, is a foot and ankle surgeon and is board certified in foot surgery and reconstructive rearfoot and ankle surgery, as well as podiatric medicine. He is also a Certified Wound Specialist Physician (CWSP) in the American Board of Wound Management. He received his medical degree from Temple University, his master’s degree in microbiology and immunology from the University of Rochester School of Medicine, and completed his residency at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital with advanced training of limb deformities at the Rubin Institute of Advanced Orthopedics at Sinai Hospital. Dr. Hunter’s expertise lies in advanced minimal invasive surgery (MIS) of the foot and ankle. He is dedicated in providing quality care to patients of all age groups. His clinical interests include but are not limited to Achilles tendinitis or tendon rupture; ankle arthritis, instability, or sprain or strain; bunions; congenital or metatarsal deformities; foot and ankle pain; fractures; hammertoes; torn or ruptured ligaments, tendons, or cartilage; amputations and limb salvage; cartilage repair and replacement; Charcot foot reconstruction; correction of metatarsal and genetic deformities; corrective and revisional surgery, flatfoot and Cavus foot reconstruction; open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) for ankle, heel, and foot; rearfoot and ankle fusions; and reconstructive surgery. Dr. Hunter is a member of the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) at UPMC Williamsport and current president of the Central Region Pennsylvania Podiatric Medical Association. He is an associate of the American College of Foot & Ankle Surgery, fellow of the American College of Foot & Ankle Orthopaedics & Medicine, and a member of the American Board of Podiatric Medicine and the Pennsylvania Podiatric Medical Association.
