Dr. Jon G. Eichelberger
Overview
Dr. Jon G. Eichelberger is a family medicine doctor. He provides a wide spectrum of care, ranging from urgent medical needs to preventive care, for all age groups. He manages chronic diseases and educates his patients on matters important to their health. Eichelberger earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Texas at Austin, where he was in an interdisciplinary honors liberal arts program and studied Latin, music and biochemistry. He earned his medical degree from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. He completed a residency in family medicine at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Shadyside Hospital. Eichelberger moved to California – the 49th state he had visited – in 1991. He is passionate about helping underserved communities access health care, and previously worked at several medical centers reaching out to those communities. At UCSF, he enjoys walking to work, the collegiate atmosphere and working with some of the best minds in medicine. Eichelberger ran his first marathon as a medical resident and has since run a total of 73. He has also participated in in several triathalons and the AIDS/LifeCycle – a bicycle ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles that raises money for HIV and AIDS services – as both a rider and a volunteer doctor.
