Joseph Marconni Sewell-Araya, MD, is an esteemed urologist dedicated to providing exceptional care to his patients. Dr. Sewell-Araya, a native Spanish-speaking urologist, understands the nuances of Latin American Hispanic culture. He completed his first residency year of residency in General Surgery at the University of Minnesota at Minneapolis, followed by a residency in Urology at Universidad De Costa Rica. To further enhance his knowledge and skills, Dr. Sewell-Araya pursued a fellowship at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, specializing in Advanced Minimally Invasive Urology and Robotic Surgery. Specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of urological conditions including prostate cancer, kidney cancer, bladder cancer, testicular cancer, Enlarged Prostate (BPH), overactive bladder (urinary frequency), erectile dysfunction, and kidney stones. Proficient in providing comprehensive urological care utilizing advanced surgical therapies such as Transurethral Resection of the Prostate (TURP), Green Light Laser, REZUM, Aquablation, Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy (ESWL), semirigid and flexible ureteroscopy. As an Assistant Professor at the prestigious Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell, Dr. Sewell-Araya actively contributes to the education and mentorship of future physicians.
