Kathleen Ann Leinweber, MD, MA specializes in orthopaedic shoulder and elbow surgery, including shoulder arthroplasty (replacements), revision shoulder arthroplasty, shoulder fractures and sports injuries, rotator cuff and tendon injuries, elbow injuries, fractures and arthritis.|Dr. Leinweber attended Northwestern University, where she studied Molecular Biology, Genetics and Global Health. She earned a Master’s Degree in Biomedical Sciences from Loyola University Chicago and her Medical Degree from the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth. She attended orthopaedic surgery residency at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in New Hampshire and has specialized fellowship training in Shoulder and Elbow Surgery from New England Baptist Hospital in Boston, MA.|Dr. Leinweber has a strong commitment to research, education, leadership, innovation and advocacy with clinical interests in complex shoulder arthroplasty, revision arthroplasty and upper extremity reconstruction. She has several book chapters and peer-reviewed publications in journals such as the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery (JSES), the Journal of Arthroplasty and Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery. She is an active member and holds leadership positions in the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) and American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES). She serves as a peer reviewer for JSES and the Journal of the AAOS.|Dr. Leinweber is an active member of the American Orthopaedic Association (AOA), in which she has received advanced leadership training at the Resident Leadership Forum and Emerging Leaders Program. Her commitment to education is demonstrated in her involvement with the Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine and Orthopaedic Surgery Residency and was awarded an annual award to attend the AAOS Educator’s Course to receive advanced training in resident education.
Her clinical expertise encompasses Ewing Sarcoma, Spondylolisthesis, Osteoarthritis, Hypermobile Joints, and Leg or Foot Amputation.
She is actively involved in clinical research, co-authoring 9 peer reviewed articles. Dr. Leinweber is currently accepting new patients.
