Dr. Kathleen C. Hankins

Dr. Katie Hankins says open communication is key to success in medicine. “I try to be an active listener, understanding where the patient is coming from, their goals and lifestyle,” she says. “It’s important to treat the whole patient, help them see the big picture, engage them and guide them to taking an active role in their care,” she says. Dr. Hankins provides comprehensive care for disorders of the urinary tract, including kidney stones, prostate issues, incontinence, overactive bladder and cancer. She has extensive experience in female urologic care. At AtlantiCare, she provides leading-edge treatment for overactive bladder, including sacral neuromodulation implantation. She earned her medical degree at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, Piscataway, N.J., where she received the Dean’s Scholarship Award. She also holds a bachelor’s in biopsychology from Tufts University, Medford, Mass., where she graduated magna cum laude. She served her urology residency at Brown University, Providence, Rhode Island. “I always knew I wanted a career helping others and making a difference in their lives. I am fascinated by science and the way the body works. Medicine combines all those attributes,” she says. She is excited to join AtlantiCare. “We are building a comprehensive, one-stop urology program, where the people of southern New Jersey can get everything they need, right here, close to home,” she says. Personal Interests Dr. Hankins grew up in central New Jersey and was excited to land a position back in the Garden State. She lives in Atlantic County with her husband and their toddler. Her other passions include travel and soccer – she was co-founder and captain of the club soccer team at Tufts.

Her clinical expertise encompasses Urinary Tract Infection in Children, Urinary Tract Infection (UTI), Boils, and Folliculitis.

Dr. Hankins is board certified in Rutgers-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, MD, 2019. Dr. Hankins is currently accepting new patients.
