Dr. Kichiemon Asoma speaks Japanese and English fluently. He went to college at Columbia University and graduated in 1999 majoring in neuroscience. He completed medical school and ophthalmology residency at SUNY Downstate, where he won the Excellence in Ophthalmology award 3 years in a row from 2003 to 2005, and was selected to be Chief Resident. Currently Dr. Asoma is also a Clinical Assistant Professor at SUNY. He is board certified in ophthalmology, and also has specialized training in Laser Refractive Eye Surgery (LASIK, PRK, LASEK) and corneal transplants, both traditional and new thin-laser DSAEK.
