Overview
After growing up in Nigeria, Dr. Kiran Mallula earned his medical degree from Osmania Medical College in Hyderabad, India, with a post-graduate degree in Pediatrics from Kakatiya Medical College in Warangal, India. He then completed his residency in Pediatrics at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, followed by a fellowship in Pediatric Cardiology at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, where he also earned a master’s degree in clinical research. He further pursued an advanced fellowship in congenital interventional cardiology at the University of California in San Diego. An associate professor of Pediatrics at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, Dr. Mallula is affiliated with the Children’s Heart Institute at Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital, where he is the director of the cardiac catheterization laboratories. In practice since 2001, he is triple board certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Cardiology from the American Board of Pediatrics and Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD) from the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics Dr. Mallula specializes in interventional and adult congenital cardiology. He utilizes advanced catheter-based interventions and minimally invasive therapies to treat children and adults born with congenital heart disease. He also offers exclusive medical care for adults with congenital heart disease. His clinical and research interests include the use of hybrid/fusion imaging technologies in the catheterization lab, transcatheter valve therapies, hybrid procedures and interventional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). In addition to English, Dr. Mallula is fluent in Hindi, Sanskrit and Telugu languages. He enjoys his favorite pastimes of travelling and learning from cultures all over the globe.
