Dr. Lynne M. Opitz

Lynne Opitz, MD, is a highly experienced physician specializing in Surgical Pathology and Anatomic Pathology. Dr. Opitz is currently associated with Staten Island University Hospital, where she serves as the Department Chairman of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, specifically focusing on Surgical Pathology. Prior to being appointed Chair of the department, she served as the Associate Chair under Dr. Simpkins.Dr. Opitz is a board-certified pathologist, holding certifications in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology from the American Board of Pathology. With her extensive training and expertise, she provides accurate and timely diagnoses for a wide range of surgical specimens.After completing her MD at New York University School of Medicine, Dr. Opitz pursued a residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at the same institution. She further honed her skills through a fellowship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, specializing in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology.In addition to her clinical responsibilities, Dr. Opitz also serves as the Residency Program Director for Pathology, sharing her knowledge and expertise with the next generation of pathologists.With her dedication to delivering high-quality patient care, Dr. Opitz is committed to staying at the forefront of advancements in the field of pathology.
